Sorry -- when locals say "big hill," we mean the San Gabriel Mt Range (& Mt Wilson), which is 6000 feet elevation, so nope, can't see Edwards unless I drive up and over, which I have. It's in the desert, so hothothot, but the surrounding areas had a big boom during the housing craze, which increased shopping, etc., over there. Unfortunately those areas now are likely going through the mortgage-industry bust. But, it's relatively close to the rest of LA urban sprawl, and if you like desert it's beautiful. |

| Subject: RE: Anyone near Edwards AFB? Not from there, but drive through on the way to the Sierras several times a year. It's pretty flat and deserty, if that's your thing. Hot HOT in the summer, cold in the winter. Pros - 3 hours from Mammoth, some great skiing/boarding, hiking, fishing,climbing, hi altitude training. Couple hours from Lake Isabella and Kern River rafting area. Cheap real estate. Couple hours from L.A. hustle/bustle Cons- it's way out there. |

Extreme Veteran 557 Glendora, CA | Subject: RE: Anyone near Edwards AFB? i work in ontario, a ways from edwards, but a great place to train. you have the mountains, the beach, just a lot of great place to ride get your ows swims in, and lots of great places to run. so are you in south dakota? i was in brookings for a week in july-loved it. |

Yeah, I live in Rapid City, SD right now. Thanks for the info, everyone. Sounds like it's what I thought...kinda BFE but easy to drive to lots of places.... My other option is Eglin AFB in Florida...so, still not sure what I'm gonna do! |
