I actually was going to get the m-dot last summer after my HIM and leave 70.3 in block letters not filled in with color.  That would give me modivation to do the full IM.  I would not get the mdot without doing 140.6 unless you make not on the tat.

I'll pay to have them put a  Texas A&M tat on ya... I'll even pay for the booze in the attempt to get you drunk enough to do it

You don't have enough money or booze to make that happen.

I was thinking of just putting the 'M' on the tat, then I can put the dot on if I ever scratch the IM itch.

In the end, do whatever makes you happy sweetie. It's not like you will put it anywhere it can be seen on a daily basis.

BTW folks, I'm his girlfriend.

So you're saying I shouldn't get it tattooed to the front of my throat?

I say go all ironical on the world and get the face of Bea Arthur tattooed on your calf.  She turned 70.3 in her final season of the Golden Girls...just sayin...

If you want the tattoo get the tattoo.  I have tattoos that I did not do anything special to earn... but I like them, enough said.  On the meaning side of it... you will always know if you havnt in your own mind "earned" it.

I havnt run a tri at all yet.  First one is 9 days!  As happenstance would have it I do have an appointment to get a tattoo on my foot the day after the race... but the tat has nothing to do with tri's and the timing is only because usually you should stay out of chlorine for atleast 3/4 days after getting a tattoo.

There is not debate when it comes to the .45 or 9mm.  the real question is what is your intention?  In what environment are you using the weapon?

Knock down power, .45  Mag capacity, 9mm.  Target range only 9mm.   Combat environment where the pistol is often a secondary weapon, .45  Hunting, .41 or .44  Long range hunting any number of the TC options.  I have both

C'mon .... everyone who knows anything about guns knows that .40 S&W is the best all around compromise!  High round capacity and stopping power.

A .32 will take down most triathletes though.  They're all skinny, undermuscled wimps.  They should really spend some time with the weights.

You can get the tat but you have to put an asterisk in place of the dot......

As a SF Giants fan, that one made me laugh out loud!!!!

Funny. A guy in my office and I were joking about my tat... he asked it was going to be on my neck. I said, "Yep... all the way around and it will read... 'I am an Ironman b@tches!' HA!

And I love what Ken D did!

KSH - 2008-09-11 10:05 AM I was going to get a M-Dot after my HIM... but didn't get around to it because I had to swim and what not. I think it's fine to get a M-Dot for a 70.3... IF that tattoo denotes that it was a 70.3. Just getting a M-Dot for a 70.3... well if people (who do tri's!) see it, like when you are swimming, they will think you did a full IM. It's just the perception. Sure, it's just for you, but it's almost like false representation if someone does see it. They will automatically ask, "OH! What Ironman did you do?"... thinking the full distance. So if the M-Dot shows 70.3 on it, then it's cool. Just a plain M-Dot for a 70.3.... not so cool. But that's just me. I think you should do something with a Longhorn that has 70.3 on/near it. I think the numbers are just as cool and a very nice reminder of what you did. In the end, do whatever makes you happy sweetie. It's not like you will put it anywhere it can be seen on a daily basis. BTW folks, I'm his girlfriend.

This happened to me just the other day. Mine is on my shoulder blade so, for the most part, the only time the general public sees it is when I'm swimming or racing. I was glad to be able to just say Arizona and not have to do any "explaining".  Oddly enough, I'm glad I did an IM for a similar reason. Now when my family or friends say "He's an Ironman" when they mean I'm a triathlete I don't have to explain. Now I just have to do a straight marathon so I can get that out of the way too

How about no tatoo at all.  I just don't get the "I want to brand myself" thing.

Now I am going to really start something.

Not meant meanly - The only difference between people with tattoos and people without tattoos is people with tattoos don't mind the ones without tattoos.  It is a difference of always being asked "why?" versus never having the question "why not?" being asked first.

Oh, and it's not a brand; I've seen the truly branded types, and that's just something I could never see doing, along with certain piercings.  I've got enough problems getting comfortable on my bike.

Right...  Inflection is hard to do in written form.  Writing as you did (italics and bolded) would have actually made more sense for the point I was making.

Along the same lines.....Is it bad to have Mdot apparel, but never have done a full? I have a tri top and visor with the logo(because they were cheap and work really well), but have never done the distance.
