I have always ridden at a high cadence, and in most flatter races I'm in the 100 - 105 range on the bike.  Then I'm pretty consistant in the 170 - 180 on the run (85 - 90 per foot).  I'm certainly not slow on the bike or on the run.

Cadence is an individual thing, and has less to do with generating power and more to do with individual cycling efficiency.  I'm a very efficient pedaler and as I mentioned, always spin, even up most hills.  It's just what works best for me.

Brett's position seems to be "don't mess with it" too much.  Certainly don't focus on spinning high cadences (at least for long distance tris).

My position is ride a lot.  Work hard.  You will find the cadences that work for you over time.

Not so different.

Went through a period several years ago when my HR wouldn't go over 156. No matter how hard I rode, 156 was it. I asked a friend with degree in physiology and he said "Heart Rate Deflection Point"....I don't understand it personally...the athletes that 'really' keep up could probably say yes or no as to that being a cause of you being stuck at 141....you can find a ton of info of how deflection point relates to training and possible causes....
