Subject: Calling all women for help...sooo embarassing
I just finished my first olympic triathlon last weekend. I was in so much pain on the bike...! I had pain on the insides of the top of my thigh where the leg meets the "goods"... It felt like I was burning down there the entire time.... so incredibly painful I could barely move around on the bike...

Once I completed the race and got home I realized I was torn up.. I was a bloody mess on both sides..! I was stunned..

I have spent a great deal of time in the saddle with no issues.. I wore my triathlon shorts, which I have worn many times (as opposed to thick biking shorts)...

I have large cuts/scrapes that need to heal before I can ride again...

Any advice? Any products to help? I'm stunned... I'm not overweight (110 pounds) so I don't think I was getting any "chub rub"...??

I'm perplexed!

Thanks!

Make sure it doesn't get infected.  I'd suggest some anti biotic ointment.....will probably make it feel better.    Try some body glide on your crotch beofer your next race.....works well

I don't get blistered, but I get huge like ingrown hairs that hurt. Bodyglide has helped.

I've been using Aquaphor Healing Ointment before I ride, and it helps tremendously. I no longer have any chafing/rubbing issues since using it before every ride. However, I now have a new problem...when I get down into the aero position, my pubic bone gets sore. I'm using a Terry Butterfly Tri Gel seat with a cutout, so I'm not exactly sure why this is happening.

for healing try desitin (yes for baby's diaper rash) it does a great job protecting the area from moisture and allowing it to heal.

You did your race in tri shorts you train in all the time, but have you trained in those shorts when they're wet? Having spent 1/2 an hour in the water during a race can soften up your skin, then add even more time wearing wet shorts on the bike until they are completely dry. That could be the culprit.

like rub burns? I got this from wearing new tri shorts.  the chamois tore me up. I've also had older shorts do that....I think shorts can be like running shoes, you have to find the ones that work, and even then, they do wear out.

I love chamois buttr!

this has happened to me as well. I found the culprit to be the legs had crept up and caused bunching in that space between my thigh and the girl goods. I started putting a&d ointment on the area before a ride and it helped.

Chamois Buttr helped it feel better on the healing end, as well as letting it air out well.

I also found that waering a splice helped since it has no legs to creep up.

Hope it feels better soon....crotch stuff sucks!

I used to have a similar thing happen when I did hard bike time trials..I'd actually get ripped skin in my privates.

I need to remember to rotate my hips and yes always use chamois butt'r or bag balm or both.

I found it was only when I did hard efforts not normal riding or training.
