Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6:30am. Had half a glass of water and a granola bar. I was out of the door at 7:30am.... The race was just across the road from my appartment, so not a lot of travelling.
Event warmup:

Ran a couple of laps on the parking lot of the YMCA and did some stretching.

Comments:

The first portion of the race is actually part of my training route, so I knew what to expect for half of the race. Started out slow and really enjoyed the sunny morning. Boyfriend was acting as my pace maker which was a huge help, not to overdo it in the beginning. Around mile 3 I started to have side stitches, but I was pushing through it and around mile 3.5 mile I felt fine again. Half a mile before the finish line the last hill of the course was getting me... I was ready to be done with this. The whole race was pretty small and I knew a lot of the people due to training at the Y and everybody was annouced by name going over the finish line. That was very neat.
What would you do differently?:

Not freak out before the start, because the ranking really doesn't matter as long as you see the finish line and you are happy with your performance.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking and stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The stomach trouble from the days before and that I am still a beginner and still need more training and experience.
