Why made you choose these socks?

I went with DeFeet. I got my first pair for free from the local running shop, and really liked them. After a few rainy training runs, I decided to use them as my main socks for IMLP 08. I managed 26.2 miles in rain (sometimes heavy) and through puddles without a single issue.

Had problems with blisters with runs > 10 miles. After trying on a pair Injinji, no more blisters!

Wigwam Ultimax Ironman.

There's many different styles and you're sure to find one that fits your needs. These are THE socks I wear for long distance--I beat them up, I pee in them, they get crazy dirty really fast, but they just keep wicking and ticking. No blisters with these, even when soaked.

I like the thick style--better protection and the forefoot really protects where your laces are tied, which tends to be a pressure point for me.

Went with the smart wool. They keep my feet warm and dry in the winter and in wet weather and I've even worn them in the summer on longer runs without problems (ie, getting too hot). I never seem to get blisters with them either. I also confess that I sometimes wear them around the house just because they're cozy

Smartwool is the way to go.  I used to get blisters all the time but Smartwool has basically cured that problem.  The one issue I have is that they tend to hold sand in them (i.e. I'll do a trail run, wash my socks, and then the next time I put them on it seems like there is still some sand stuck in them).

My "thumbs up" goes to Thorlo. I've tried other brands like Balega, Smartwool, and Injinji...but I always end up reverting back to my old standby Thorlo's. I need to wear a thickly cushioned running sock, and Thorlo makes the thickest, maximum cushioning sock on the market. At almost $12 a pop, yes they're pricey...but my feet will strongly protest if I try to run in anything else.

I like the Balega socks the best out of all the ones I've tried.  They are all seamless and can have different amounts of cushioning depending on the sock you get.  I used to get blisters on my toes all the time until I switched to their socks.

I get the 7 pair packs of UA footies for pretty cheap when on sale at Sports Authority. They are perfect for me. I use them as my everyday socks for "tennis shoes" and such.

I haven't worn a pair of cotton socks in two years, and have no intentions either.

I don't wear anything else but Balgea- they're the best socks.  I've never blistered with them and you can choose the thickness of the sock because they have different thickness options.  I ran a 50K in those socks and had to go through water I never blistered- even running in drenched socks!

I've been using the Wrightsock Double Layer socks for a few years with no real issues. I get occasional hot spots, but my feet are pretty jacked up after years of running in jungle boots. After after seeing the poll here I just ordered a pair each of 6 different kinds of Balega socks. Looking forward to trying them out.

I use the Craft proCOOL socks and love them.  No Blisters at IMKY despite being in soaked shoes and socks.

Wore them for every run this summer and rarely got blisters, even for 2+ hour runs.

Balgea!  I love these socks.  A local running store introduced them to me and have not used anything since.
