I'm in. Does anyone know if the bike portion still involves those turnarounds listed on the site or if that's been changed?
Looking forward to my first HIM.

We talked to Neil the other day. The bike course is back to the original course. The bridge has been fixed and a group of us rode the course last weekend.

Thanks for the update.  It's just the good news that I was hoping for.  I'm glad, because I did not want to do that bridge more than 2x.

I am signed up for this race. My last 2 races were the Philly Tri in June and PA Steelman yesterday (both Olympic). This will be my first 1/2 IM. I don't feel I've put in the volume of training I need to for a 1/2 IM, but I'm going to try to really pile on the volume over the next 3 weeks to get ready for this. I will definitely have to walk part of the run portion.

I'm in for the race, too.  I did it in 2007, and the biggest thing I remember is that it was HOT on the run.  There's not much (or any, really) shade, and it's all along the canal path.

I'm trying out a couple of nutrition scenarios to see what works.  I think I might use a Fuel Belt for the run, which I hate and haven't used in a race before, but I'm concerned that if it gets really hot I might need water more often than the aid stations come.

The entire course is completely flat (except the bridge), which I'm looking forward to.   Should be good times!

I don't think you'll need a fuel belt... I copied this from the website: "Water/sport drink stations around every mile. HammerGel provided at each station."

Howdy all. Hope everyone's training is going well with three weeks left. I had a few questions for the course veterans:
1. What's the terrain like for the swim to bike transition? Should I bring some running sandals or slip-on shoes for the 1/4 mile or are bare feet OK?
2. I know that it's been mentioned on this thread that the bike course is back to normal, but they still have it listed as the adjusted course on the website. Which is true?
This is my first HIM and I'm really looking forward to it. My training has gone well and I've lost some pounds. See you all there!

Confirmed with Neil Semmel just now that the bike course is going back to the original course. He said the website should be updated by tomorrow. Have a great race everyone!

From what i recall it's a paved road.  I had flip flops there last year, tough to run in flip flops w/ wet feet so i ended up taking them off and carrying them.  i might bring a pair of sneaks this year.   seemed like longer than 1/4 mile at the time.

Good luck to everyone this weekend. Looks like good weather on Sunday despite today's gloom. I'll be camping at the campground in site 18 if anyone is around.

I'm in.  Just signed up a few days ago.

silcox - there's a good chance I'll wind up @ the campground as well (unless weather is bad).  If I remember I'll stop by.
