Expert 1028 Chandler, AZ | Subject: RE: Rock & Roll Seattle Marathon Some AZ BTers are headed to the Pacific NW. Ktriathlete, Rotordean, Rotorkim and myself. I'll be at the expo this morning/afternoon. I'll be handing out some Aquaphor samples. I've done several RnR events - San Jose, Arizona, Nashville, San Diego, San Antonio, Las Vegas. Elite racing puts on a fine race. It will be organized. The value is good. Concert, medal and tech T rocks. The only negative for some is the race is crowded. I like the crowds so it rarely bothers me. My family is planning on going to the concert after the race. These are very low key events since the majority of us are a little tired and sore. If in doubt, I'd go. There will be a nice awards ceremony and slideshow before Keb Mo hits the stage. |

I am finding that some of the unsung heroes of this event are the spouses, friends, and neighbors who are volunteering to deliver us runners where we need to go! Shout out! I am going to move up a few corrals, I'll post on here which one in case there are others to chat with in the morning....anybody else want to post your corral/number/finish goal? I am going to hang out and watch all my friends finish (and hopefully be cheered on by my faster friends!)....hope to see you all! |

Buying a bib from craigslist from someone who is injured. I'm in for the full. Didn't plan it so no real taper, but what the heck. |

Their were a few zig zaggy people that were driving me nuts, though. That said I am quite sure I left at least one person shaking their head at me. I hope everybody met thier goals. |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: Rock & Roll Seattle Marathon I was quite lucky, a lot of people were sticking their hands out to let you know they were walking, or saying they were going to walk so I was doing the same. I mostly walked at the water stations and hills. I seemed to stay with the same group of runners I latched onto @ the 1st band.

Plenty of volunteers at the long aid stations. Very well run for an inaugural race (or even a non-inaugural one). |

Although I had a few thoughts about what if the Big One Hit. Considering it was the inaugeral, it was well run, well stocked, well supported, Fans at finish line rivaled an Ironman finish. 5 STARs. |

Master 2407 Bellevue, WA | Subject: RE: Rock & Roll Seattle Marathon Two of my teenage daughters, my wife and I volunteered at the start line yesterday morning. We had to get there at 4:00am - earlier than any race I've ever done. It was a lot of fun. I've never been "behind the scenes" of a major event before. We setup some of the corral signs, and then we just helped people find what was were. I chatted with a number of people about the race and the area. My wife Theresa and I were in #15 and my daughters were in #16. Theresa and I held the rope across the front of the group as we walked down the street. That was fun, although you'd be surprised how dopey some people can be. Seriously - when the other 700 people in your corral move forward, don't you think you should to? After the everyone went through, I helped collected all the clothes people had dropped to give to charity. Theresa and my girls were doing recycling and garbage pickup. Then we helped dismantle the start line signs and banners so they could all be moved to the finish line. And we helped dismantle the traffic barriers. It looked like it was a great day for a race. Too bad I was one of those people who tried to signup in mid-May and it was long sold out. |

I think it's great that they can get so many pics and get them to their proper owners in such a short time. I really like the ones that were taken around the 10k mark, where they photogs were over the street in the crane. Those are cool! It's been so fun catching up with all my friends who ran the race and hearing their experiences. Pretty much goes like this:
