Subject: 24 Hours of Booty
I just saw that they've posted the dates for the 2009 Booty, July 24-25.  I've wanted to participate in this since moving to the Charlotte area, but it looks like this year's event will take place the same weekend as the new SetUpEvents Lake Wylie triathlon.  Decisions...decisions!

24 HOB is a lot of fun and a great cause.... pretty special event. I have a goal of riding 200+ miles this year.

Love 24hob.  A little packed, but a good time all the way around.  I'd pick that over Lake Wylie any day. Not very good planning on the race committee's part if you ask me.  Of course, you can be hard core and ride a few hrs of 24hob on fri, go race lake wylie, and then come back for 5-6 hrs of cool down riding after the sprint

Assuming we have a team competing, we will be there.  I wouldn't miss it even if I have to ride by myself. I've set a 100 mile goal for myself two straight years and missed it due to scheduling issues. Not going to make it 3 in a row.

So who made it in ? Registration closed out very quickly and caught a lot of folks of guard.

I'm on a waiting list, and pretty close to the top, so hopefully I'll get in...... never thought it would fill up as fast as it did.

Wow I had never heard of this until just now. I got started in my bike racing career doing 24 hour marathons in the late 70's! This is like going full circle (pun intended). Sorry I missed this years. I guess I could enter the Columbia one. BTW I rode 415 mile when I was 17. They were 5 mile laps in central park in NYC.

You would probably like this a lot.... maybe you can catch the other event and also sign up for Charlotte next year. We couldn't believe how quick it filled up this year (1200 rider limit)...luckily got in late.

I rode all through the night and around 3 in the am there was almost no one on the course, it was starting to rain, I was tired, wind picked up... then I finally realized what it was all about. I thought of all the people who have suffered and endured through cancer. Almost immediately I felt stronger and everything else was inconsequential.... it was a seriously powerful moment that I won't forget. My "hardship" was absolutely nothing compared to the hell that cancer must be like. If you're inspired and truly motivated, it's amazing what you can accomplish.... hopefully the event will help result in more positive breakthroughs in the fight against cancer.
