I'm pretty sure Fuji bikes are measured to the top of an extended seat tube, so let's say what they post as a 50cm bike would actually be a 48cm for many other manufacturers.

In any case, you are very unlikely to be a "small" (Fuji says that's ~46cm). Medium (Fuji 50cm) would probably fit you, but taking into account Fuji sizing, that may also be too small for you.

The problem here (other than you really need to be fit to a bike in person before buying it, as you already know) is that you might fall between sizes--but taking into account Fuji sizing, I'd put my money on that you are actually a Large.

I am also 5'5" and do own a Fuji Roubaix.  I find it comfortable, more than the other road bikes I tried when I was looking.   Tried to see if I could find the "size" on the frame...no luck.

However, my tri bike is a smaller frame and I find it even more comfortable.  Not sure why the tri bike fit feels better than the Fuji when I haven't had it fit yet, but it does.

Roubaix is a slightly higher-end bike and a really good deal

If you measure from the center of the bottom bracket to the very top of the seat tube (along the seat tube up to where the seat post inserts), that would give you the measurement as Fuji does it.

I have a 52cm Fuji Professional...about 4 yrs old.  I did the crotch on myself and am about 30" you can do the math to convert!  I am 5' 6+  The 52 fits fine, and I wouldn't want it any larger.

Hope this helps.

I own a Newest 2.0 and the frame size is XS (42"inches).  I'm 5 feet and one inch.  I feel kinda scrunched, but this is my first bike so I might not know how I am suppose to feel while riding.

Kurls26 - 2008-12-29 3:31 PM I was mostly curious what a Small frame is cm wise according to this Fuji model. It says small and the guy went on to say that it would fit riders that are between 5'3" -5'7".  That sounds like a big difference.... I am between those heights yes, but if it ends up being 48cm that would be too small for me.  an inside scoop would be great. Thanks for your help!

Two people can have those heights and have the same inseam, that may then mean adjustments on the seat position and stem length to get it dialed in.  Then there's the top tube length, two different people with those heights can have the same torso lengths so the inseams are different, seat heights, etc then get dialed (simplifying things).  This is why you really should get on the bike or better yet get fitted beforehand.

I got fitting measurements done at a LBS and the manufacturer type was then selected that would best fit my profile.  I didn't buy then, but instead waited about a year and got a great deal on an internet closeout.

My wife has a 07 Fuji Finest 2.0. Go to fuji's website. They have a geometry chart below each bike. Her bike is a small/size 44cm(sloping top tube). She is 5'4. Looks like the Newest's are slightly larger than the Finest's. The Finest's are the women's specific bikes. Prices are similar...have you considered a finest instead? I can snap some pics with a tape measure if that helps.....

I own a Fuji road bike and I bought it specify because the stretch is longer then the stand over.  My torso is longer than my legs (in proportion) and I need the top tube to be longer.   I usually ride a 55/56 road bike,  but the stand over can be tight on that size frame.  Fuji's 53 (ML) stand over has a 55 stretch, which is perfect for me. BTW, most Tri/TT bikes have the same configuration.

I had an '06 Fuji Newest 3.0 in size M and I'm about 5'8". Fuji does their geometry so the seat tube and effective top tube are NOT the same. My bike was actually considered a 50 (seat tube) but the EFF was about 54 cm. Check this chart out: Fuji bikes
