Of course you can join. Skinnies is a long-standing group who loves new folks.

We weigh in on Wednesday (or Tuesday or Thursday... ) and set monthly goals. In the meantime, we encourage, hassle, etc. each other.

Welcome!

Dude - Saling...I just noticed the thread title. Are you making fun of girls again (girls will be girls)? Are we going to have to gang up on you?

Not sure where this is coming from, do you have any proof? Wink

Yeah, I was kinda wondering that myself, but I figured I wouldn't say it, being a newcomer and all. Some people talk tough, but we will see who is left standing at the end. I myself am planning on standing tall.

For those unlucky people (like me) who have to work on this lonesome orphan of a day, have a good day. Well, actually, everyone can have a good day today, whether or not they have to go to work.

Great job Lisa.  Doing a 10K New Years day was awesome in itself.  I had a houseful of kids and grandkids and a headache all frickin day (didn't drink too much, but slept too long).

I mean scales that actually work At the moment on the 'bad' scales, the needle does not even stay still. It goes between 160-180 even while I am standing still.

I would take the 160 in this case.

Oh and is the initial for our last weigh in on December? or from when we signed up? Either way I think my initial was about 173-175, not 168 like what it says. I WISH I was 168 :D

I make the ending weight at the end of the prior month the initial weight for the next month.

Since this has been brought up before:  Does everyone want to keep there initial weight ALWAYS the weight they joined Team Skinny?  Doesn't matter to me or I can add a new column that shows the real INITIAL weight.

That's ok... I had too much alcobohol! but it is the new yr, so no more excuses! Besides who cares what the scales say anyway right, (saling)? There is a lot more to feeling better about yourself and being healthy than by what number shows up every morning.

Correct Josh,  THE SCALE does not run our lives it just helps us keep a little more motivated.  If your scale TELLS you you are obese it might ne time to tie the running shoes on (or throw it out the window).

Almost forgot to welcome Natorious to Team Skinny.  You are in and look forward to having you.

Knock, knock.... Can I come in?

I know I've been away for AGES but I'd love to join the Team again. Just a quick update of what's been happening around here. Well, I started my PhD which turns out to be a lot busier than I thought. I did my first Tri in September and despite a rough start I finished (and wasn't the last one) and really loved the whole experience. After that I did a charity run (7k) for women in October and that's about it. I'm also smoking again and I'm not happy about this- planning to quit asap (meaning Monday). I'm guessing I'll be starting from scratch again (will post my weight tomorrow) but my motivation is high- I want to be healthy, I want to race and I want to be able to call myself a triathlete. Also it's my 30th birthday in April and I want to feel good that day. That's all I suppose. Oh yeah, I was looking at race schedule for this year (Ireland and UK) and the first one that caught my eye is a duathlon here in Limerick: 3,6k run- 16k bike- 3,6k run and it's on the 8 February. I'd love to take part even though all the pros from the local tri club will be there which is a deterring factor. Anyways, I'll worry about it later.

Hope you'll take me back and wish you all a happy New Year!

Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  I'm considering today to be the first real day of 2009.  Yesterday was a complete waste as far as productivity is concerned.  About once every six months or so, my hubby and I take a day off and just play computer games all day long.  That was yesterday. Total bum all day.

So, today I'm getting back into the groove.  I have a workout to do, and a kitchen to clean.  I may even take down the Christmas tree today!!! Hold me back!!!!

Thanks, Saling, for getting us set up for the new year.  My meds are in full effect (hypothyroid and I was out of sync last month) so I'm optimistic about meeting my goals this month. I'm also considering adding a duathalon to my schudule at the end of the month. Got the "Frost Yer Fanny" in my neck of the woods coming up. So....welcome new folks, and let's get skinny!!!!

 Learning equals behavior change.
If you learned a new insight than you are level 0 learning.
Level 1 learning occurs when your behavior changes.
Level 2 learning occurs when you transform from the behavior.
If your behavior is not changing, you are not truly learning.

Well, hey, everybody! I did weigh this morning (I'll weigh-in on Wed. hereafter,) and I am SO not happy! I have weighed 135 for like five weeks now, and I have resisted so very many bad foods! My workouts were messed up in Dec. because of traveling and such...and too many of them were yoga, not great calorie-burners. But I am oh-so-new to any of this; I've only ever had short active stints in my (gulp) 38 years...Except for 140 a couple of months ago, this is the most I have ever weighed when non-pregnant. With all that said, I think I'll set this month's goal at 132; my ultimate goal is 110-115...y'all give me some advice!!! HELP!

I'd like to become a card-carrying member of Team Skinny.

I weighed-in at a depressing 212.5 this morning. In October I was 197.5. *cry* *cry* *cry*

Goal for end of January is 206.

My highest weight ever is 270 and lowest ever is 192.

I really, really want to lose weight because I want to do oly and longer distance tris, but my extra weight puts me at a much higher risk of injury.
