Well Saling4, we are virtually at the same weight with the same goal for the month.  For a challenge within a challenge, I am challenging you to try to best me each week.  I warn you, I am pretty determined to reach my goal.  Do you accept the challenge?

Can I join, too? I had already planned to weigh tomorrow morning, so I'll have to base my month's goal on that...I'll check back later and hopefully post in the morning!

I love it.  What a great line!  "Still unable to get on some GOOD scales, so unfortunately I won't be able to weigh in this week."  There are many weeks that I am unable to get on a GOOD scale.  Some weeks all I can find are crummy scales that lie and say that I have gained weight.

Here's to only finding good scales!

I mean scales that actually work At the moment on the 'bad' scales, the needle does not even stay still. It goes between 160-180 even while I am standing still.

Oh and is the initial for our last weigh in on December? or from when we signed up? Either way I think my initial was about 173-175, not 168 like what it says. I WISH I was 168 :D

Awesome quote and on a perfect day for me.  I did a 10K run today and it was PAINFUL.  The last two miles anyway.  I took it one step at a time and just told myself to keep going that the pain would pass and it would be done soon.  And it did and it was and I PRd by :30s!

Let's all have a great month to start off 2009!

Hey everyone! A new year, and already off to a great start... I guess that's the idea though. So yesterday the family and I had a get together at another families house for the New Yr (Same family we spent Thanx'G with), and there was a ton of food. Mostly german and slovic origins, but great nonetheless. Turns out that unconsciously, I stuck to a high protein diet. I think, however, for more than one reason. The first, trying to cut fat, increase protein, vegatables, and fruits... not to mention water, this yr is a must. The second, I think I was nursing a bit of a hangover from the night previous... It wasn't really all that bad, I was just uncomfortable, most of the day until I took a nap. But as far as food goes, I had about a spoon full of Mashed potatos, a ton of shrimp, some polish sausage, not even half of a pulled pork sandwhich (just the pork, and a slice of bread), and then half a bowl of bean soup with ham. And yes I successfully warded off all cheesecake advances. (No Dessert), however, to drink I had two sodas and some water, so not proud of that, but I'll live. About an hr after dinner we disbanded and I finally got some much needed rest. (Slept from 5:30pm to 12:30 am). Now I'm up! Just ate a sandwhich (three kinds of meat, with mustard, and had some water), about to go back to bed though.
Some other amazing things that happened: Does anyone believe in ghosts??? There's a standing joke with the family we went to visit, about their father who had passed away a few yrs back. Well today my mom and I saw a temper tantrum he was having. He was rattling doors, making noises in locked rooms, and he even threw a trash can lid (off the trash can) right in front of us. It was pretty wicked.
So I'm getting pretty excited as school pickups again on Monday (5th). I've already met two of my professors, and they seem pretty nice. I guess the next statement should then be, is that aside from training, I am again working for the 4.0 that I so desperately want... Besides I graduate in 11-13 wks, and if I get it, I would have sustained a 3.9 over the past 2 yrs. So go me!
Still working on a tentative date to get back to the gym but I think around the 20-25th is going to be the earliest. I have to wait for financial aid refunds to come in... not to mention my new car... Yeah!

That's ok... I had too much alcobohol! but it is the new yr, so no more excuses! Besides who cares what the scales say anyway right, (saling)? There is a lot more to feeling better about yourself and being healthy than by what number shows up every morning.

Hey Custer... Good luck to you on your weight loss journey. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are more than enough, well qualified, skinny's to help you.

You too Nautorious, Good Luck!

LisaB--> I just read your last comment from the last thread (Dec). Thanx for the concern. I'm sure he's going to be just fine... As now they know he's got a blood clot. However, a recent development, when the stroke occured, he had lost the function of only his left leg, he's now lost the use of the other leg as well. I wonder if he's got multiple clots, or if it moved based on the action of blood thinners, affecting different area of the brain. All we can do is wait and see.
