Holy sweet mother, it is not screwing around out there this morning. -25F on the dash, which after a quick consult with the abacus I have learned is 57 degrees below freezing.

57 degrees below freezing.

And I'm in southern-ish MN.

Be safe out there, people. Better yet, don't go out there, people, if you can avoid it.

I am taking Johnny Bee's advice...don't go out unless you have to. I am lucky enough to be at home today as the district I teach in deciding they didn't want the kiddos waiting outside at the bus stop. One of the perks of teaching!

Yes!  And it will practically be shorts weather on Monday, which is perfect since I have the day off work.

I'm getting a new garage door opener installed today and I can't help but think the garage guys are insane.  I imagine they are used to it, but geez.  I am excited though because with the cold my opener is cranky and I have to get out of the car to guide it up, which totally ruins the benefit of having it...  Not that I should complain, because my garage is usually a good ten degrees warmer than the outside and it makes getting in the car a lot nicer than it could be.

I can't type - my fingers are still frozen!

I hope my car starts when I get off work.

So after your last post, you worried about the whole good karma/bad karma thing?

Funny...my car took a little longer to start after I got off work...

I think I will be going out and starting the car at lunch today and warm it up.  Maybe I'll leave it running.  But I guess now in MN that would be against the law...

No school today!  Kind of crazy actually.  The roads are fine, it's just farking cold.  Oh well, I guess I can work on some papers for that class I'm taking.

You probably are.  Did your admin. not get the message that it is cold?  I'm actually kind of suprised that we were canceled.  I need to get my exam copied for Tuesday and I'm not sure how that's going to happen.  The copy center needs a 48 working hour turn-around.  If we're canceled tomorrow...  I guess I'll end up at Staples or something.  I'm not complaining too much.

When do you teachers find out this info?  They didn't cancel school for Farmington today.  It'd be nice to know before the morning of.

Have a great 'day off' if school's cancelled again tomorrow...

Don't know about other districts, but ours is posted on their website and all over the TV.  This is highly unusual, as they normally don't call school until the last possible minute, about 5:30am.  It was rumored that -20* is the cut off for having school here in Rochester and that seems to be the case.  I still can't believe it.  Very strange.

Not a complaint about the weather so much, but the conditions of the path on either side of the river where I am absolutely sucks.  There's not a bit of blacktop to be seen and for much of my 8 miles today, there was an awful lot of nasty snow that wasn't packed down.

squish squish squish squish the whole way.  Yuck.  It made for a slow and unfun run.  I don't want all the snow to melt, but I just want some nice and clear paths.

I wanted to run outside today, but figured that it would be too slushy.  Packed snow is OK for running, but slush sucks.  If we get too warm this week, we can look forward to ice.  Yippee.

Ugh.  I might just have to look into running at the Metrodome.  *shudder*

No complaints here. Ditto the slush thoughts - the stuff is hard on shoes.

There's not a bit of blacktop to be seen

what is this "blacktop" you speak of?

It's a bituminous substance on the roadways that was laid down years ago by the AGW deniers but recently covered by precipitation from the coming ice age.

Whine?!?!?!!

This week has been great. Even with the call I picked up, I got to bike to work 3 days this week!!!

I have a feeling the ride home tonight is going to be a little windy though.
