Comments: Pretty busy race, we all started at the back at a nice easy pace.Ran with Zoe and Catriona and Dawn. Kept a pretty good constant pace throughout the race. We lost Dawn about mile 7 (another toilet break, but I believe these were award winning toilets).Fantastic support from family and friends, passed the MIL with the kids 3 times. Zoe pushed on with around 1/2 a mile to go - I initially felt I could go with her but was wrong.Finished alongside Catriona (ok one pace behind). What would you do differently?: The target was to beat the 2 hour mark, and to try and keep 9 min/mile pace, both were achieved, so I wouldn't do a lot differently other than grabbing a hold of Zoe's shirt for the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Did a bit of stretching then headed into the swimming pool that was onsite. The shower was freezing so headed into the pool pretty quick. The water initially felt like acid thanks to all the sweat encrusted chaffing marks I didnt realise I had. The bad feeling did not last long, the pool was great - very clear (and not acidy at all). What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe if we had set higher targets we could have gone faster, but as a first one I just really wanted to get round. Event comments: I had been told that this was going to be the last Alloa Half Marathon but an anouncement was made before the start that they hope to keep it going. I hope they do, I would do it again next year. Last updated: 2005-03-20 12:00 AM

Drove up with Dawn, Zoe, Catriona and Ann. Got parked in the driveway of someone that Ann knows that wasn't to far from the start. The girls all dissappeared off to the obligatory toilet stop so after a while I joined the gent's queue. Seemed like everyone I knew passed me while standing there, it started to become a bit surreal.
Felt pretty cold so I didn't do a warm up because I was worried I would cool down again before the race got under way.
