Comments: Ran hard right from the start. I figured I'd either finish fast or hit the wall trying. Shoes were rubbing by 3 miles in (the new insoles added a bit too much in the heel and screwed up the fit of my shoes). Legs started feeling a bit tired by the halfway point, but I kept a fairly steady pace. The last 5k was all about hanging onto a few people I'd been following. Last half mile or so was downhill/flat and I was flying down it.... yahooooo!!! I was running so hard the entire race I didn't think I'd be able to drink anything, so when the sun came out at mile 11 I started getting baked. What would you do differently?: Ok, ok... don't try anything new on race day. But really, it was that or not race. Arrive later and buy coffee on the way. Oh, body glide on the thighs! Never before had chafing there, but ouch. Didn't notice until 10 min after, but I chafed bad enough to bleed a bit. Post race
Warm down: Shoe change, food, BEER! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Last updated: 2009-02-24 12:00 AM

Got up and drove! Had a tasty bagel and nasty coffee at the race site. Can't complain too much when they feed you before and after the race though.
Headed for a jog up the road looking for some trees to water (2 port-a-potties for 400+ runners?!?) then some quick pick-ups. Ran into a guy I know from running ultras, which was a nice surprise.1
