Subject: p90x question
I would have posted this in the strength training section, but that section is pretty dead, so I decided to post it here.

Anyways, I am thinking about doing p90x but I am not completely sure yet. It sounds like a fun, challenging way to improve your fitness level but I have one question about it:

Does it hurt or harm your tri training? I would think it could go either way. It might hurt your tri training because you are so tired from all the workouts. It might also help it though because you are getting stronger. Which one is it?

I'm interested in doing it too.  I'm guessing it can't hurt training, but the hard part for me would be getting enough time to train for both and NOT overtrain...

I don't want to sacrafice tri for P90x.

ive done all the workouts, then i just stole the exercises that i liked:

ab ripper is great, pushup/pullup variations are good, the only full session that i still do is the yoga, even if it is too long

about helping or hurting tri training, i think it would hurt, just because p90x is supposed to be EVERY day...that extra hour+ or so plus all the real training that goes into tris would burn me out quick

I used it this last year during the winter to help with off season training.  I currently am on day 64 of the training and have tried to b 100% devoted to the p90x program.  Consequently, I have found very little time to run, bike or swim.  I would only get a run or two in per week....just because it requires an hour at least every day.  However, I have noted a huge benefit when I go back to the SBR training in that it is maintaining my endurance in those sports despite not doing them as regularly.

For instance, I have been running 1-2 times per week 3-4 miles each time.  Last week I did 4 miles Monday, 4 miles Wed, 6 miles Friday and 12 miles Sunday.  I never had any pain on any of the runs and today I have no pain.  I was having a lot of issues with IT band pain and piriformis pain prior to starting p90x and running more than 15 miles a week.  I believe that the yoga and weight training are complimentary to the SBR training and I plan on continuing those workouts and skip the Kenpo and Plyo.  Great program and nutrition guide.  Tony keeps things upbeat and fresh.  good luck!

I agree with the above posters. I borrowed it from a friend and did it for a week. With 2 kids and work, I have a hard time finding 4-5 hours a week to workout, let alone an hour a day for P90X. It is a great workout though. I do the core workout every now and then on my day off.

I'm in the same boat. Have thought about CrossFit Endurance for that very reason.

I borrowed them from a friend.  I tried doing the core workout yesterday, but I found it extremely boring.  I'd rather stare at a treadmill and let my mind wander.
