Pre-race routine:

Got up way too early after way too little sleep. Made the drive to Indy to meet Mom. We picked up my Aunt and headed downtown where we hooked up with the rest of our group.
Event warmup:

Didn't really warm up. Just walked from the car to the race start. I also did a little jumping around hoping to make it through the porta-potty line before the starting bell. Didn't happen. Just had to run the 4 miles with a full-ish bladder.

Comments:

I'm actually pretty content with my finish time considering I was on tired legs, I did zero warmup, I needed to pee, and I didn't really show up to race - just run faster than usual. :)

Event comments:

After I finished running I had time to kill waiting for the rest of the group to finish up (they did the walk). The had little in the way of post-race refreshments. Just bananas, cookies, and vitamin water. Couldn't find just plain water so I had to choke down the icky vitamin water. At least there wasn't a line for the porta-potties. They opened up the Columbia Club so I drifted in to keep warm. There was a band playing and they had beer and food for purchase. I had to leave because I was a sad little girl who left her money and ID in Mom's car. No Guinness for Emily. *sniffle, sniffle*

After everyone made it back to the finish line we headed out for a big, tasty breakfast. Table for eight rowdy ladies please! And keep the coffee coming. We were the noisiest (and likely the most caffienated) table in the place. But, hey, we were having way more fun than everybody else!

All in all, it was a fun morning. Next year I'll remember money for beer!

Beautiful and fast...for "not racing, just running faster than usual"

Note to self, remember that phrase it's a good one

Congratulations!

Congratulations--especially considering the less-than-ideal circumstances (I'm a pig, I woulda just peed on myself), you did GREAT and kept your fun in mind--just to run faster than usual!
