Science proves fear of sharks perfectly rational.

Even on land...

I spent most of my young adult life surfing, sailing, swimming,  body surfing, and scuba diving San Diego, CA and Baja Caifornia, and have seen many sharks.  I have been stung by jelly fish, sting rays, and chomped on by morey eels, even been around many many sharks both daytime and night time, and I am still around.

Are sharks scarey, you bet when you see em, and I have seen some big ones on the way out to Catalina Island (20 something miles off CA coastline), but you can be just as scared of biking while motor vehicles whizz by at 60 mph too.  I've had stuff thrown at me, and been shot at with paint guns.  So which animals are more dangerous?

Chaderbox - 2009-03-31 10:40 AM For me, as long as there are other people in the water with me, I'm ok.  BUT put me in the water alone and I can't swim at all.  I just keep looking all around expecting a shark to come out of nowhere.  Unfortunately for me, this also will happen in a pool.  Feel free to point and laugh now.

Few, I'm not the only one...  Lights went out with a big ca-chunk the other day at the Y, I imagined they opened the shark door too...  Good thing the lifeguard was a cutey, forced me to HTFU and keep swimming...  ;-)

Why don't you hop in my mouth. The water is cool, but nice.
