Hi All,
Just joined. I'm still nibbling at committing to TRI training. I've been away from anything athletic for about a decade and really want to get back into shape. I've dreamed of doing a tri for many years, but work, school, and laziness have kept me from going for it. My question: I'm on the verge of hitting 40 and could use some inspiration. Is it ever too late to start?
Welcome to the Challenge forum!
It's never too late to start! Your story is similar to mine - I used to be really active, but then got away from it.
(And for pretty much the same reasons you did.
)
If you're looking for "accountability," you might want to try participating in the challenges. Each month's challenges are different, but basically, you set a goal and work towards it during the month. You encourage your teammates, and they encourage you.
(No comments from the peanut gallery on my particular methods of "motivating," please! LOL
)
There are two challenges this month:
-- The April Peach Challenge - where you just try to log some kind of activity each day. What you do, and the amount you do, are up to you. But every time you log something, the box on your training calendar turns "peach." You can probably still join this. Just
click here to get to the discussion.
-- The Super Hero Challenge - this is a team challenge, where everyone sets a goal in a particular activity.
(But the goal and activity are up to them.
) Then, we participate in teams. At the end of the month, winning teams and losing teams are declared.
(It's up to the challenge organizer to specify rewards/punishments for winning/losing teams.
)
Whew. This was a long post.
