I got an indoor trainer last week and had my 1st ride a few hours ago. I couldn't stop sweating! I got so hot I took my cycling shirt off and there was pretty much a small puddle forming under my bike?

I tried searching the forums for previous posts but I can't seem to get the search thing to work.

What do you guys do? Open the window? Ride naked?

Enlighten me!

I make sure there is plenty of ventilation and air flow.  Open a window(s), ceiling fan, also have a small fan blowing on me, ride shirtless.  Also keep a spare hand towel handy to towel off as needed!

More like POOLS of sweat. Even with cooling, it gets pretty ridiculous for me.

Towels, towels and more towels. Make sure you wipe down your bike afterwards - sweat is a pretty nasty corrosive.

I have a fan on me and I keep a towel handy.  I also set the bike and trainer on towels so I don't end up with a puddle on the hardwoods!

I've got a ceiling fan I keep on full blast when I'm on the trainer. Also go to Sam's or a hardware store and get six of those rubber puzzle floor pieces. That'll protect the floor. I drape a towel over the aero bars as well.

Yeah, you can lose some serious fluids on the trainer.

I keep a fan nearby.  I've thought of keeping the window open as well, since I only use the trainer when it is too cold for me to ride outside, but I think the rest of the family would object to the arctic blasts coming into the house!

+1 to everything above. I have a mat under my rollers and setup a fan now. Also having a towel or too around helps

I do pretty much the same as everyone else, and I sweat a lot.  I have a reasonably strong fan that I position to blow right on my back, seems to be more effective than blowing on my face and chest.  I have a rubber mat under my trainer and I usually go through two hand towels borrowed from various hotels over the years.

I wear lightweight bib shorts, and a loose fitting technical shirt. I cover the entire aerobar/headset area with a towel, sweat is extremely corrosive.

I turn off the heat, open the patio door and turn on the largest fan I own (I need to buy a bigger one).  This works ok until my wife comes home and closes the patio door complaining about the cold.  I still have puddles under the bike.  I use a folded yoga mat under the trainer to keep the noise down and towels to protect the floor.  Another handtowel for wiping my face and a trainer net to protect the bike.

I have noticed this when doing indoor cycling and indoor running.  For me, I need to keep a fan blowing on me to help cool my body down.  You might want a pretty strong fan also as you realize when you are cycling 20 mph, that means at least 20 mph of air blowing over your body when you are outside.  PLlus outdoors, there is normal air circulation.
Thus, you might want one of the Vornado fans to circulate air [http://www.vornado.com/CategoryDetail.aspx?ISC_Category=Whole Room Circulators] and another fan just aimed right at you.

Then, as others have said, good placement of the equipment, and towels to keep everything dry.

This is probably overkill, but with a trip to Home Depot for some plywood and some adhesive tile squares I built this setup:

Photobucket

Catches the sweat, and I bolted the trainer to it to make it more sturdy.  Then I put those furniture mover disks on the bottom so I could move it around the room easily.  I must have had a lot of free time that day.......

A fan, no shirt, and a few towels. Hand towels for wiping the sweat from my brow, nose, chin, et al.  Hand towels to cover the bike. And old bath towels to cover the carpet. The bath towels on the carpet also help when lubing the drive train.
