2 months in on this adventure from being a couch potato. The bike speed is about the same – distance is further – this is fine because the bike was always going to be my best event (compared to the other 2 anyway).
Running – can you call it that – a walk with a faster shuffle throw in for effect. Well it is getting better - including a 2.5 mile loop that I am now doing at the weekend. Pushing the distance on this each week.
The swim – gone from 300 to 400 yards in a session to 600 yards. From 25 yards and stop to 100 yards at a time. Huge improvement here – still a long way to go.

Weight – very stable but my first 2 months have been disrupted by 2 business trips that messed up my training (an eating) and a long weekend in montreal which caused me to drink lots of beer. I do look different as I’m losing fat and putting up some muscle. Need to work on the weight issue – that’ll make the rest of it easier!

The best sign of progress – bike – the distance I started with in a week is now a session. The running (jog/crawl) pace is up about 25% and the Swim speed up about 35%. This could be the last time I see improvement like that (as a percentage) so I’m shouting it out loud!!!!! YEAH!!!!

This fat boy is moving!
Beginners – THIS CAN BE DONE!!

Sorry folks – psyched this morning – even looking forward to shoveling snow – how mad is that?

Excellent Job Mike. Isn't it great to see results.

Excited about the snow? We are supposed to get 10 inches tonight. The crazy skiers will love it but not me.

You are doing great! I read your story and I see my own. I know how you are feeling and it is very exciting. My sons' love the movie "Finding Nemo" and there is a little song by Ellen Degeneris that always comes to mind:

Just Keep Swimming

wouldn’t do any on this if you guys hadn’t taken away my excuses. You can show me the path and you do that very well. You show me that you have done it and that people started off in a worse shape than me and are still doing it.

All that’s left for me to do is walk the walk.

Best I do it then.

Thanks for the words of encouragement for a babbling maniac!

Mike, I love that you give us an update of your progress and also of your feelings of what and how you are doing. I have not charted my progress as you have -- mainly I struggle with running. I know I have said THAT a number of times here!!!

You have done an awesome job, and I like following your logs and your progress. Keep on keepin on -- You ROCK.

Nancy

mike,
In the last two years I've dropped almost 100 lbs. When people ask how I did it almost everyone gives me their excuses why they can't do what I did. Eat right and exercise.
I makes me feel good to read how you are not letting excuses get in your way.
If I had a nickel for every excuse I've heard, I could afford a new set of bike tires.
Don't stop now or ever!
Don
