Run
Comments: This race was intended on being only a training run before my marathon next week. My goal was easy run of 9 minute miles and I was not going after a personal best. First mile was at 8:05. I was near sprint at start for some reason and really dialed at back after the first half mile. My left knee didn't feel quite right with some pain at first. Lately it has been taking me around 4 miles get into any sort of running rhythum and today was no different. Miles 2 - 4 were around 8:30. This was a small race and everyone was going pretty fast, so I tried not to be too slow. At mile 4 I realized my idea of going slow wasn't happening. About the same time, I started to feel good with no pain what so ever in my knee. I now figured that I might was well push a little to the end. Miles 4-6 were around 8:15's and I passed numerous people. Hit the finish line at 51:56, a personal best by 2 minutes (I have only run this distance 2 other times and both races were not good). What would you do differently?: I'll let you know next week. If I have a hard time recovering, this was stupid. If I feel good for the marathon, then going at this pace was a good idea. Post race
Warm down: Walking What limited your ability to perform faster: I was a little over dressed for the weather and I didn't have a real plan for time. Event comments: Nice race and next time I run a 10k, I will have a plan and stick to it. Last updated: 2005-04-09 12:00 AM

Usual - cliff bar, whey gatorade mix, and red bull.
Not enough stretching. As usual, I arrived a little later than I wanted. Got in some short sprints and light stretching.
