Swim
Comments: I had a great swim! the water was flat calm. It was soo warm. the water temp was 24C and the outside temp was only 8C I didn't want to get out of the water at the end of the swim! I got a good starting spot in the deep water start right at the front on the outside. I couldn't draft anyone as I was right up the front for most of the swim. What would you do differently?: Not much. I had a good swim good position and good sighting of the buoys. Transition 1
Comments: I had problems getting my socks and shoes on. the water was so warm but the temp outside the water was so cold and there as a long distance to run between the water and the bike racks. So my toes went numb in that distance. So I couldn't get my shoes on. I also had put my water bottle to wash the sand off my shoes in the fridge the night before (I didn't think aobut it) so made my feet even colder washing them with the water. What would you do differently?: No put my water bottle to wash my feet in the fridge. (duh) Bike
Comments: I had a pretty good ride. I went hard on the first and third laps. It was pretty cold and I couldn't feel my toes for most of the ride. I think I rode pretty well not overly fast but ok for me. What would you do differently?: Go Faster, Maybe do the corners a bit better. they were quite tight corners and I had to slow right down and lost a bit of speed. Transition 2
Comments: I had a few wobbles when I got of the bike running my feet were pretty numb. but the rest of the transition was good. What would you do differently?: Nothing really Run
Comments: I always have problems with the run. (I've got my new orthotics but didn't want to risk wearing them in the race as I've only worn them once so far) My shins started hurting as soon as I started running. But I ran ok considering my legs were hurting. there were lots of tiny little hills. Not big hills at all but lots of little dips. The sun had come up by that stage and it was nice and warm. I was a bit wheezy too as I'm still getting over a cold. But I think I did ok. What would you do differently?: Get used to my orthotics and run ith them. I know I'll run faster then Post race
Warm down: did some stretches while the presentations were on. Then went out for Breakfast with my family. Event comments: For my third race and the longest one I've done. I'm really happy with it. I really enjoyed the race. which i haven't with the other two races! I know I'm not overly fast but I know I can go faster with more training and experience! I loved it! I don't have the split times and I'm not sure if my race time is right I'll update that when I get the times. Last updated: 2005-04-10 12:00 AM

Not a great pre race routine. My footy team lost the night before. I was at the game and was pretty devastated (yeah I should be used to it I follow the Dockers!!)
It was a very early start I got up at 4.30am and tried to eat a breakfast bar but just coulnd't do it. I got halfway through before feeling really sick. (I've got to find something to eat before a race)
It was sooo cold at the start line. only 8C when we got there. I was wearing thongs! (stupid I know but its not normally that cold here)
went for a quick cycle for a warm up.
