The 305 and 405 are different animals. One is for multisport, the other is a single sport device. If you like the multisport functions at all on the 305 you'll be disappointed with the 405.
I'd send the 305 in for repair. The tech support people have some leeway about repair costs, so if it's just out of warranty you can probably get a discounted repair/replacement.
I really only use my Garmin for running. I'll use it for biking for the HR monitor only, as I'm all set with my bike computer on the bike. If the 305 were truly usable for tri's (can't wear it in the water, likely too big to get a wetsuit over when taking it off even if you could wear it in the water, etc. ) I'd perhaps use it in races, but for me, it's a running pacer and that's it. And I LOVE it for that - worth every penny for me. The fact that the 405 gives me the same functionality I use now, and is substantially smaller, is a huge plus. |
