Subject: Snake Bite Tri??
I spent the first thirty-five years of my life in Morgan City, I always thought Lake Palourde would be a great venue for a triathlon:

Anyone out there know anything more about this, or the apparaent race director (Lisa Parsiola)? Always a little leery of first-races/race directors...

I saw this the other day.  Looks very cool.  Doubt I can make it but would love to do this race for the swim alone.

I don't know anything about the race or the race director, but their website sure does make the race look interesting. I think I will give this one a try.

Lisa and her husband are both local triathletes who race in and around south Louisiana.  Her husband just completed Ironman Florida and is a member of Team Evotri.  He has a blog at www.tricajun.com.  Can't speak for their race director worthiness, however.  My wife will be racing and I have volunteered to help out with the race.  My wife is from Morgan City and her parents live right near the Lake in Stephensville.  Hopefully, it will be a fun event.  Going to be hot, that is for sure...

I have trained with both Lisa and Charlie, they are great folks. Lisa participated in and completed the IronMan World Championship in Kona about 4 years ago as well as Gulf Coast Half, IronMan New Orleans and several Marathons. Both her and Charlie have participated in almost every sprint distance Tri in Louisiana. She is also the race director for the Tri City Track Club and is directing the summer series for them.

Lisa is very creative and organized. She has been asking for lots of help and will get assistance from a bunch of us that have been racing Tri's for a while now. With this being the first Triathlon in Morgan City, I can assure you that it will be a good one.

Lisa was at our Rip van Winkle triathlon today, taking meticulous notes, shadowing our race director and extensively questioning all of our coordinators. If for some reason her triathlon doesn't go off without a hitch it won't be for lack of research, education and planning. More race directoes, especially first-timers, need to follow her example. Looking forward to the race!

Great race, my wife enjoyed it.  Got to meat MamaBear while spectating for my wife.  Didn't get to meet the bear, but got to put a face to the name.

Knowing how the Copperheads like to hang out in the Cypress trees (and fall in d'pirogue when crawfishin') I think I would have freaked out with the plastic snakes...

That being said maybe I should plan my next trip home to correspond w/ it, afterall, I am from the big MC (and yet NEVER went swimming at Lake End... odd???)

Glad to see that it looks like they resurrected Fig St (literally, the street was sinking in the early 90's)

Great job y'all!!!!!!
