Subject: swim in a tri-top?
There is already a thread on google search about this and I am too lazy to work the search function...

what is everyones thoughts if a wetsuit is out of the question because of water temperature?

I have a Pearl Izumi Elite Tri top.  When wet it does gather abundance of water(as I tested it in the shower), however I have never swam in it yet.  If consensus is, it will not be that bad while swimming, I will practice swimming in it with the drag,

But also, I know how hard it is  personally to get a dry shirt on while wet and it costed huge time in T1.

Any help or ideas?

My tri top feels like a parachute in the water.  And since its a vest-like thing, it goes on easier than a t-shirt.  Swim without, put on carefully in T1.

I just swam for the first time in a tri top this morning.  It wasn't that bad.  I purchased a Zoot tri tank and it fits me like a glove so there isn't a lot of fabric hanging out to give me a lot of drag.  (I did get some weird looks at the pool this morning Surprised )

That being said it doesn't feel like it will breath verywell for running.  That's the next test this weekend.

Put on tri top. Unzip it. Take arms out and roll top down to your waist. Tuck in band of yoru shorts.

As you are exiting the water, pull it up, slip arms in and go.

(Of course, check if shirts are even required...if not, go without)

Get one that fits tightly and you'll never notice it during the swim. If it bags or wrinkles, get the next size smaller.
