Subject: Where can I find open water temp info?
How do you guys find out what temperature the water will be for you open water swims for both training and races?  Is there somewhere I can find both current temps and averages so I can plan on whether or not I'll need a wetsuit for races in the future?

The race website should have appx. temperatures, but sometimes you don't know until race morning if a race is wetsuit legal (sometimes the water is on the cusp).  If you are doing a training swim... ask around BT, see if where you are swimming has a website -- that may have information.

The state's Department of Natural Resources (or whatever it's called for your state) might have that information too.

You can also find the water temp on some fishing sites if the lake is popular with anglers.
