1.  Get like 75 kickboards out and pile them in stacks at both sides of the pool with a placard on top: "Please leave one for me"

2.  Glue a kickboard to the pool deck and see how many people you can off.

HAHAHAHA I would love to take a video of a situation like that (both of them).

I swam in grade school and high school.  We practice in the basement of the 1920 academy.   It was 20 yd pool like two and half lanes wide.  That wasn't so weird except when we took phys ed class in 7th and 8th grade we would have to swim naked because the school didn't have suits for us.  Not coed of course.  I'm sure I mentally scarred for this.  Like a scene from and bad movie, 25-30 naked 12-13years old standing around the edge of the pool learning the breast stroke.  Yikes.
I was absent for water polo, I think the whole class was.

Okay, I have a good one.

There is a cd that shows up at my poll occassionally and does water walking in the lane next to the the edge of the pool. A lot of people are doing that in that lane, so there's nothing weird about that. However, she wears a full suit in the pool. Like a full 3 piece skirt suit, with nylons on her legs and everything. She's a larger woman and her hair is curled and she's wearing makeup and a blouse and even a string of pearls around her neck. I haven't mosed over to see if she is wearing shoes or not, but it wouldn't suprise me if she is wearing heels. How weird is that. The first time I saw it, I asked the life guard about it and apparently she comes in often. Weird.

Whaaaatt?! That is so messed up... but hey at least she is getting a good resistance workout!

WOW. That's wrong. On so many levels. Not sure if that would be legal now days. Or rather accepted by parents.

mrbbrad - 2009-06-19 2:45 PM Why do so many people care what other people are doing? Naked tea; big f'ing deal!!!!!!

I stand in front of my locker COMPLETELY NAKED and towel off; anybody want to post here about that? Jeez.

I'm not anti-nudity (matter of fact, I was *born* naked!  gasp!), but I AM against creepy lecherous old ladies talking at my boobs and crotch while I'm just trying to bathe.  I guess I just prefer to be naked around people who can deal with nakedness without engaging in a fiesta of ogling behaviors, and who can themselves follow a certain amount of nudity etiquette (don't spread your labia wide open and then sit all over a bench -- use a towel instead!  don't goatse the hair dryer in the locker room!  don't use locker room facilities in a blatantly sexual manner!)

This thread is really creeping me out!

I've been living in South Korea for 11 months and am scheduled to come back to the States in August and I am sooo not looking forward to all of this. Here, nudity is like second nature in the saunas and steam rooms - you sometimes actually get weird looks if you AREN'T naked. Foreigners might need some time to get used to it but it is a really comfortable environment when you get used to it and most importantly, there are NO CREEPOS / LURKERS ETC. I mean I'm not a man so I can't speak from first hand experience in the men's saunas but I train with male Korean triathletes and they are 100% comfortable too. And the men and women even wash each other's backs without it being weird at all.

The only time people stare at me is when I am branded from a race and kids are wondering why I have huge black numbers all over me. But anyway. Yea, I'm sufficiently creeped out... but thoroughly entertained. haha

Wow, definitely way wrong.  I thought my middle school PE teacher was a freak making us shower and watching everybody.  But this is on a whole different level of sick.

I didn't think it was all that common, but I've never taken a poll or anything.

I think you should start a poll.

Like a BT thread that has that feature where people can vote? "Preferred method of hoo-ha drying-choose one." Heehee. I'm too chicken. And I don't know how. And I might not want to know the answers. I doubt if I'd allow write-ins!

Someone noted that people may not want to use gym towels for their delicate parts. I can see that, but I also present a third option - BYOT! (Bring your own towel). And I also agree that dryers would not necessarily be contaminated, but it just seems so.... brazen? Exhibitionist? Slightly vulgar? Something like that.

This was actually the norm in most places. Nudity was required at the YMCA pools until they consolidated with YWCA and went co-ed. Seems weird in retrospect, but was just a matter of fact back then.

Thought I would revive this thread as I had a strange incident at the pool last night.  I see a guy kneeling at the end of a lane so I motioned to share.  Agree to split and off I go.  As I pass him coming the other direction I am overwhelmed by a wave that about drowned me.  I turn and look and he is swimming in diving fins with snorkle and mask.  I have seen the snorkle mask combo before but not 36" fins creating mini-tidal waves with each pass.

Anyway, I just thought it was odd.

I have enjoyed reading the freaky pool stories and thought I would add my own.

I came in from the pool and there is a naked guy talking to somebody else. I pay no attention to them, get undressed and hit the showers. I finish taking the shower and the naked guy is still there still very much naked.

Then it gets weird... because at that point as I am getting dressed I can't escape listening to the conversation. Naked guy says in a loud voice, "That's why people are so screwed up when it comes to sex, because they aren't taught about it when they are young. I mean, I am very screwed up because my mother would never let me see her naked."

Those are words that I don't want to hear coming out of someone's mouth that is fully clothed, it is even more awkward when they are buck naked. Needless to say, that was the fastest I ever got dressed and on my way.

I'm in the locker room, minding my own business, getting dressed and some dude next to me decides to put on deoderant.  I'm sitting in a chair puting on my shoes and my dude next to me lifts up his (sorry to be vulgar but..) ball bag and starts slathering deoderant in the taint area.  I actually dry gagged.

Today the guy in the lane next to me was wearing a cape. Yes. A cape, not a cap. A cape... you know, like superman....I didn't ask.

Oh, so you're the one hogging all the kickboards...

After someone moves your water bottle or slippers to take your next kick-board, step it up a notch - write a two nice ''Hands off, this board is taken!" notes on  3x5 cards in your best Ted Kazinsky handwriting; put them in ziplock bags; and stick them to the board at each end with a bright colored thumbtack.

You could also work on that crazytown stare used by FUKING in NewLeaf's's post

Well it keeps your jiggly bits from sticking together once they begin to adhere to the law of gravity, who doesn't like to stay nice and jiggly all day long?

This thread is fantastic, I only wish I had a great story to tell.  Mine isn't so funny.

To the kickboard people; maybe try writing something other than your name on the kickboard.  Write something that people will notice.  I wouldn't want to use a kickboard with "Urine" on it or "Chlamydia", would you?  Problem solved.

I swim at my local Y and you really need to pick your times or you get stuck waiting for kids swim practice to finsih.  The Y is located within an upscale neighborhood (I don't live there) in Georgia so there are tons of kids.  I try to go at 7:30am after my kids are off to school.  Typically, I'm the first one in the pool and I chat it up with the LG before I get in.  One day I notice this older woman who is shaped like humpty dumpty, walking into the pool in the kids section.  At this point I'm already swimming in the center lane and have been for 20 minutes or so.  The lady walks through the kids section and starts going under the lane ropes until she is in my lane at the opposite end.  She gives me a look like "hey, it's ok, I made it" and she waves at me.  I look over at the LG and he starts laughing.  Humpty starts down my lane in some sort of a backstroke flail in slow motion.  I'm in complete disbelief because there are no other people in the entire pool.  I swear this lady was maybe doing .0002 knots, there was no wake and it took her about 5 minutes to get to my end of the pool.  By this time I had switched lanes.  When I was done I got out and asked the LG what the deal was with this lady.  He said she does it to everyone and some people have yelled at her.  She will only swim in that one lane and she doesn't care who is already in it.

Since this first time I refuse to hand over my lane to her.  I see her coming and I keep swimming.  Once she is in my lane I typically do a flip turn in her face and she eventually decides to move.  She doesn't speak english very well, but that doesn't make her behavior any more acceptable.

#2- There is a mother and daughter "team" that swim together every day.  I see them everytime I'm at the pool.  They always swim in the same lane together, regardless of lane availability.  They will jump into my lane without telling me and act like I should have known they were there when we collide and I give them "you're an idiot" look.  None of this is strange, except that they only swim with the daughter following the mother and they are within inches of each other, maybe 2 inches and they only do the breastroke....really slowly.  What is that?

My pool has the naked people too, but I just keep my eyes focused on empty spaces in the locker room and get dressed and out the door.  I don't make conversation.

Maybe at a certain age, you need reassurance that you still have sensation there?

Wow, you guys have some real weirdos at your pools.

The weirdest thing I've seen is this younger overweight girl came in with a huge fin that combined both of her feet. It was huge!. It was like a mermaid fin or something.  She did like 10 25's of butterfly then left. I wanted to use her fin :p
