It's a good 1st wetsuit. It's 100% legit, and as long as it fits you ok, you're more than good to go.

There have been reports that the material in this wetsuit is a bit more tear-prone than other wetsuits, but I've done at least 10 OWS in mine already and it still looks & smells new.

I believe Xterra also has a great 30 day satisfaction guarantee policy or something like that, so if you don't like it, you can just send it back.

I wish I'd bought the Xterra online first - I thought brick n mortar was the way to go for my 1st, but I ended up talked into a too-small $300+ BlueSeventy that is completely useless to me now. The Xterra feels every bit as good in terms of material as that BlueSeventy, but fits me much, much better.

My first suit I bought half price at the end of the 2007 season. It is a Zoot Z1. At the end of my first season of racing in 2008 I decided I wanted something more flexible so I bought an Xterra Vendetta, again for half price at the end of the season (although I still got to race the San Francisco tri in November in it). My impressions.:

The Zoot is a great suit. Well made and flexible enough for everyone except the most discerning. I'm a swimmer so I went for the Vendetta which feels to me as if I don't even have a suit on. The Vendetta is a made of highly technical material and is prone to small surface cuts easily repaired with a touch of glue. I consider this normal maintenance, but for most people this would probably be unacceptable. Check their website. They used to grade their on suits on a number of factors including durability. I race in my Xterra and train in my Zoot. I did have some contact with Xterra's customer service and had a great experience.

My wife and I both have Xterra suits.  We love them...for reasons including the great prices we've gotten.  Bought a Vortex 3 sleeveless suit earlier this spring on sale for $99...first ocean swim in it this morning...loved it.  Better than the Vortex 2 fullsuit I bought last year.  We had outstanding customer service from them (including on a rush size exchange) and they upgraded us both last year when they were out of stock on the clearance suits we'd bought online.

pull the trigger, you wont be disappointed. i bought a wetsuit and speedsuit from them and have been very pleased thus far. they do these sales every few months, dont think they are trying to get rid of out of date products or anything, they are 100% legit and make quality products used by many throughout the triathlon community.

oh yeah, their customer service is GREAT as well.

you should try neosport, not a big name but all of the features at a fraction of the price. I am a little biased because my roomate is their graphic designer but they really do make a good suit

I bought a Vortex 2 last year and it has served me very well. I have gotten a ton of use out of it as I OWS at least twice a week from April thru September. But, it is starting to show signs of wear. I have nothing to compare this wear to as assume it is like tires, shoes, etc. in that after a certain amount of use they just wear out. The wear I am referring to started as several small cuts than a few bigger ones, than many smaller cracks like the material was breaking down a bit and now around the shoulders were the rubber attaches to a more flexible material many more cracks. I would still highly recommend it though as a great entry level suit.

I bought a Vortex 3 sleeveless during this year's $99 promo.  Liking it so far.

CS is definitely great.  When I tried to order, the website wasn't work.  I sent in an email and got a prompt reply.  Xterra apologized for the delay and offered free shipping when I ordered by phone

The sizing chart for Xterra has worked perfectly for me on two speed skins and a Vendetta.  I am up about 5 pounds right now.  If I go back down 5 I will still be in the same size on the chart.  But it will be interesting if still same fit.  The Vendetta is very flexible so I don't think there will be an issue.

I just took advantage of the current sale and raced with the Vector Pro a week ago! Uber buoyant and a great fit for me. What I really enjoyed was the shoulder flexibility. I had an old Orca speedsuit and the Xterra is night and day better! I don't have much experience swimming in other wetsuits so I can't say how it stacks up against them, but I was very pleased with its maiden voyage!
