Did it for the first time yesterday.  Don't know that I'd do it again but boy was that an experience.

Anyone do this form of yoga regularly and are your thoughts on the benefits/detriments?

I've been putting it off... but I'm gonna do it any day now.  90 minutes of intense yoga in a 103 degree room has me a little hesitant...

I did it for a while, and I really liked it. It didn’t help my flexibility as much as I had hoped it would, but it was relaxing and challenging at the same time. I’m really not into the kind of yoga where you chant and stuff, and Bikram is pretty much all business.

Also, you’re in a room full of sparsely-clad sweaty women.

Did it once.  Threw up twice.  Room is 105 degrees.  Won't be doing that again...  Some people swear by it though.

x2 on all accounts above. I also believe that it worsened a disc condition I had in my back (as I was prob not doing the poses correctly).

I did it once and really liked it but I felt a little light headed by the end.  I could get into the poses better than reg temp yoga I liked the detox benfits too - my skin looked great for a couple of days afterwards.  I don't think I could do it in the summer though.  It was nice to walk out of the studio to the cold February air. . . . not so much in July.

I used to date a certified yoga teacher, so you can imagine I got very into yoga.  I started with Hatha and moved around into different practices.  I attended a few "hot" yoga classes and throroughly enjoyed them, however, mind you, that was when I was regularly practicing and studying yoga, at least 3-4 times a week.  I haven't done yoga in over two years now, and I would not walk into a 103º room and try to do yoga for an hour and a half, it would be brutal.  I think Bikrim yoga is great, but you don't start off with it, at least in my opinion.  In example, I am trianing for my first triathlon, and it is a sprint, not the Kona Ironman.

x2 on fiddlehead. You're gonna vasodilate like crazy in the bikram room, and if you aren't well-hydrated or used to the volume shifting from your body's adjustment to the temperature, you're going down. Huge fan of Astanga Yoga, where you are constantly moving and breathing with each pose. Imagine doing the most evil pushups possible for an hour straight, mixed in with the aerobic/anerobic demands of an interval workout. Was really good for opening up my shoulders and hips.
