Subject: Which fins?
Hi... I am looking to get some swim fins to work on my ankle flexibility and get a nice "snap" to my kick.  Which would be the best fin type to accomplish this (brand / model)?

Thanks!

I like the Speedo fins (the orange ones).  I found they were good for promoting ankle flexibility.  I recently changed to a TYR split fin, and while I think they are actually longer than the Speedos I was using, I don't feel that it helps nearly as much with ankle flexibility.

Unfortunately my Speedos ripped in the foot area and I had to replace them.  The shop didn't have my size Speedo fins in stock so I went with the TYRs.  Not so happy with them....

Hi - one thought.  I saw a great suggestion for ankle flexibility for swimmers and it really works.  When you're sitting around at home (watching TV or whatever) sit on the floor with your feet under you, causing your ankles to flex.  It's painful at first and be very gentle, but eventually you can lower your body weight and sit for periods of time.  That made a HUGE difference for me.

I didn't like swimming with fins, only because while it was AWESOME when I had them on, I felt immobile without them.  Since a strong kick isn't what I was looking for, the ankle flexing exercise did the trick for me.

That all said, the fins I used were just cheapies they had at the YWCA and looked an awful lot like the snorkel fins I had at home.  Using the fins will help get a good sense of kicking from the hip.

I'm happy with my zoomers (blue).  They also appear to be very durable.

Thanks for the recommendations!  I will also try sitting on my feet tonight...
