okay, I ride a carbon bike with carbon forks and lately whenever I get out of the saddle to climb it starts making a creeking sound.  The frame is not cracked , at least not that I can find and have also had it checked by a bike mechanic this past spring.  Anyway, I'm sure the noise is coming from the headset or forks...at least that's where it appears to come from.  Again, only when I climb out of the saddle do I hear anything.  Also, I don't ride this way but I was doing some trouble shooting while riding, and when I lift up on the bars when climbing the noise is gone.  So it appears that the noise is there when I put forward pressure on the bars.  The noise can get pretty anoying as I like to climb out of the saddle.

Anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Any suggestions?

A bikes hollow tubes could be transmitting creaks from virtually ANYWHERE on the bike. I'd first check binder bolts on the bars/stem, seat/seat post, chainring bolts, then BB, then everything/anything else. Don't forget to check pedal cleats, too. Those pesky creaks can be annoying as hell.

CAREFUL you don't overtighten anything.

I'm betting you've got carbon headset spacers, right?  What you're probably hearing is the carbon spacers pressing against each other under pressure. Try loosening the pressure on them from the top cap.

Kuota - Khrama.  I've had the headset off and was careful not to overly tighten anything and I'm pretty certain it is not my cleats.  BB...haven't checked that.

Try tightening the screws on your crank arm.  I had a similar noise last year and this year, and tightening the crank arm fixed it for me.

(**edit: again, follow the advice above, don't overtighten)
