Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So, we're a little over a month out! After reading a BT buddy's HIM race report the nerves started a little bit. Exciting! |

![]() | ![]() The long course is just a super-size version of the sprint. You don't have the stupid Peak hill. It's so much fun ... I stayed out there as long as I could last year! |

I need practice, maybe I'll head up there tomorrow. I feel better about distances since I got some volume in this weekend. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Going to be here before we know it! I have a question about the bike aid stations. Is there enough time to grab a bottle of gatorade or water, dump it in my aerobottle and throw it away? or should I plan on having an extra water bottle holder for the emptied container and throw it out at the next station? |

Is there enough time to grab a bottle of gatorade or water, dump it in my aerobottle and throw it away? or should I plan on having an extra water bottle holder for the emptied container and throw it out at the next station? I worked at a bike aid station at this race last year. I think you would have time to empty the bottle into your aerobottle if you're moving slow. We walked a long ways picking up empty bottles last year but some of the neighbors were pretty testy about litter so try to toss you empties within the drop range. Your other option is to ditch your empty water bottle and get a new one -- then you'll have more time to empty it and have a cage to hold it til the next aid station. FWIW, the HIM I did last year, Harvest Moon, I only drank 3 bottles of liquids -- 2 waterbottles and the aerobottle. Granted, it was pretty chilly out. I may just get a water bottle at the aid stations to pour water on my head and back. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SO? How is everyone feeling? I think I'm suffering some burn-out, and I'm really looking forward to getting this bad boy over with... still exciting though! |

New user![]() | ![]() AdaBug - 2009-08-02 10:25 AM SO? How is everyone feeling? Yeah, I'm a little nervous about this race. It's only my 2nd triathlon, and I had a difficult time in the Harvest Moon HIM last fall. I'm much better prepared this time, but that's not quite the same as saying that I'm well prepared ... I'm not too worried about the swim aside from sighting into the sun. I haven't ridden the bike course, but I've been looking at the elevation map and it doesn't look bad compared to my training. And I don't know anything about the run course, but since I was just getting over a running injury when I did my last tri, I'm bound to do better this time ![]() Nick |

![]() | ![]() Doing the happy dance. Just read the race update from 5430 and they've moved the .6 mile turnaround to Monarch Road. Last year that little annoyance screwed up the awesome downhill and speedy flats on St. Vrain. It's still an irritant but in a much better location! |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You guys all ready to rock this thing?! This should be an AMAZING day with a quick bike! Good luck to you all! I can't wait! Have fun guys! Only 5 days left! ![]() |

![]() | ![]() I just got my feet injected with cortisone and can start running on them tomorrow! Woo hoo! 3 days to train for that run! (I had to time it this way if I still want them to work for the Denver Marathon as I can only have cortisone once time per year) Okay, my strategy is going to remain the same: swim and bike for all I'm worth, then just try to run, jog or stumble as much as I can the rest of the way. I realized a long time ago that I am just not going to be competitive until I either lose my job or my kids go away to college anyway...and then my health will have to cooperate, so I'm just out there to have fun. ALSO, my biggest goal for the weekend is for my girls to have a great time at their first triathlon on Saturday! My 7 year old (who fairly recently learned to ride her bike) told me last night that she needs to focus on staying in control...even if someone zooms fast past her, she thinks she should take a deep breath and keep going like "dopey, dopey, doh" on her bike because she hasn't ridden long and she might "freak out" if she tries to go too fast...in her words. I thought it was very cute. Anyway...... Good luck to everyone Sunday and have a great time!

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() WOO-HOO! LETS GET THIS THING DONE!! I want my daughter to be in the kid-tri, haven't really delved into that yet though---maybe too late? maybe too young..will check, she's already playing swim-bike-run games. Feelin' great mentally, guess the race will show if I trained enough! Andria-- I'll find you and give you a pat on the back lady! Way to HTFU!

New user![]() | ![]() Latest National Weather Service forecast looks promising. I was a bit worried about 90+ temperatures. Sunday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northeast. Nick |
