Comments: In water start and everyone said there are rocks so be careful when jumping in. I jump in and all is well but the first step I slice my foot. I started out on the left in front and went hard for about the first 30 strokes then just cruised. There were times I tried to find a draft but didnt do too well but was right behind the main group. I finally started drafting off a guy who was going pretty good. We get around the last buoy with about 175 to go and I am thinking wow this drafting is working pretty well because it felt easy. Well he had slowed down alot so I lost some time. I get around him and about 20 yards behind the group. We have caught some of the groups in front and there is a traffic jam at the exit. Seems like I waited a while, while they got up the big steps. Of course the guy ahead of me falls back. I shove his butt up and then get out. What would you do differently?: Push harder and now I know about drafting. First OWS so I cant say it was all bad. I had pleny left to push harder on. Transition 1
Comments: :53 was good enough for 5th in AG. I threw my ear plugs down and of course they landed in my running shoes. I took the time to fish them out but wasted 10 seconds. Ran and jumped on the bike and was good to go. Had a little issue getting one shoe on but all was well. Bike
Comments: Roads were wet and we had some light rain during the ride. I felt pretty good. I wanted to come back in under 36:00 but didnt make it. 40 some odd seconds from ave 20. I still need to work on hills. They werent big but enough that it slows me and I need to get over them better. What would you do differently?: Not much but pay attention to time and make it under my goal. Transition 2
Comments: I felt real quick in this one. I was 3rd in AG on this one. All i can do is get faster on getting the shoes on. Run
Comments: Well I felt like my race was going just as planned. All I had to do now was run some 9:30s-45s and be happy. I was a little sluggish to start but after about 2 minutes I felt fine. Then about 2 minutes after that I got side cramps on both sides like something fierce. I never had them in training so I was at a loss. So my run blew. I was struggling with them the whole time and really couldnt get in a grove. My shoes were soaked and they weighed a ton. They are moderately light but when wet they held some water. I will be getting new shoes. Post race
Warm down: Well the weather was cooler than expected and I had brought a Gatorade to drink when I was setting up. In all the fun of seeing people and it being cool I didn't drink as much as I had planned. I think that had to do with my run issues. Maybe I wasnt hydrated enough. What limited your ability to perform faster: The run blew goats. I had a bet with a friend on who would win and I lost by 41 seconds. I lost it in the run. Last updated: 2009-02-24 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 ate a beagle w/ PB and some coffee. Started drinking Gatorade 32oz. Grab my gear and head to T1. I stayed at the hotel so it was an easy walk there. Hoping the heavy rain would hold off and it ended up being off and on light drizzle.
Stretched and did a light jog. Trying to keep dry with the drizzle.
