What is everyones favorite distance. (eg: sprint, oly, Iron etc.)
Mine so far is the Sprint.
I like the idea of short and fast (even though it is long and slow for me) vs the multi hours of a ironman race.
But my thoughts on this may change as I become a stronger athlete.

Well I'm not fast at anything.

So my vote would be for Oly and HIM. The IM training and race was just too much to keep doing year after year. But the Oly and HIM training is very doable for my lifestyle.

I like the Oly and HIM, because there is a wider range of abilities and speed on the course. It's nice to not be the only person walking the run. I still finish BOP, but that's OK.

To.

Plus, from years of x-country racing for running and criteriums/road races from cycling I have a fairly high tolerance for the pain that is the shorter stuff.  I can push at 90% of my HR for an hour while others just can't handle that.  It makes me better at the shorter stuff, which is fine with me!

sounds like you probably tore up some trails back in the day with that kind of pain tolerance.

Actually, I sucked pretty hard in High School.  Only got halfway decent in Jr. college.

It is more the racing one or two times a week in criteriums that makes you suffer and where I probably got it from.

FWIW, I've always been one to like what I'm good at.

I've only done sprints and olys so far, my favorite distance out of those two would be the olympic. The distances of each of the three legs is just perfect

I like short course & oddball distance races. e.g. 1000 yard swim / 19 mile bike / 4 mile run.

Sprints so far, since it is the only distance I have raced. Will be doing an Oly later this season.
