this looks like a great venue!

looks like a decent BT crowd, hopefully it will continue to grow.

I assume this is going to be non-wet suit? (someone told me its a little hot in Alabama in August--figure the water will be above legal temps as a result)  I couldlnt find anything and couldnt find a site that tracks the temp of the river?

what would you were for the race if non wet suit?  speed suit worth it?

I'm not racing(IMKY), but I might drive down and check it out.

I swim in the TN river(100 miles north) alot and a speedsuit is comfortable.  So it boils down to, if you want to fool with striping a speedsuit off.

Good Luck

I hope someone posts about their race. The swim times were slow so I am guessing the river must have been really moving.

understatement.

if you let go of the dock while waiting for the start, the current would have sent you downstream.

swim took me 38 minutes, I was expecting 24-26 minutes.

when you passed the buoy, it would stay in your sights for a good 5-10 seconds, literally felt like you were swimming in place.

the race favored strong swimmers big time.

that said, top notch event....i'm coming back next year.....I didnt expect to do well overall no matter who the course favored.

Glad you finished alright.

Talked to several who raced it and they said they swam against a nasty current. Something about the city opening the flood control dams on you all.

That's terrible! I've heard times being from 15-30mins over the estimate. That's gotta be demoralizing in a race!
