Subject: RE: It's 5am and I have my first tri in 2 hours 425m Swim 8:07 11m bike 33:59 2.6m run 24:43 total: 1:09:23 I had a blast. It had a great time. I learned a lot from my mistakes and I am looking forward to my next tri on August 9th. Got out of the pool winded but still moving. T1 was fine, could have done a couple things better. Bike ride was great. Knocked about 10 min off our practice time. T2 was where I ran into problems. I get in to T2 and slip on my shoes (thank God for yankz ) and take off running. I get about 100m down the run path and realize I don't have my race belt on. I was so disappointed in myself. My legs took about a solid mile to get back under me. I think I have to adjust my clipons on my bike because my calves were toast. All-in-all I had a great time and I am already looking for more to do. I want to do an olympic next. Some lessons learned: - My swim time on race day is about a min faster than during practice. Must have been all the adrenaline.
- I learned how to swim over the top of people. didn't mean to but some people put down a faster swim time than they could actually do.
- Transitions, Transitions, Transitions
- I have to practice transitions.
- If you buy a race belt to pin your number on don't forget it once you run out of the T2 area. That way you don't have to look like a tool as you are running back for it.
- One whole medium pizza the day before is NOT carb loading.
- Drink more water than you think you bladder can hold in the week leading up to the tri.
- PF Chang's spicy chicken the Friday night before the Sunday race is spicy going in and spicey coming out.
