Finished my second day today.  Not as bad as yesterday.  I'm not good at pull-ups at all and the Ab-ripper kicked my a$$.

The diet in the short pamplet shows a week of 1400 cal. a day diet plans but the larger book has the different phase diet plans.  The short pamplet also discusses cal. deficits, ie... so many cal. a day = so much weight loss a day.  You also hear about not taking in enough and the body going into conservation mode.   I've followed the 1400 cal. plans for the past 3 days and think I can go with this but is it enough?  I'm 171# and 6' tall.  I've never counted calories before so this is very new to me.

I don't know much about the p90x nutrition stuff, but I highly suggest logging your food. I use MyFoodDiary.com, but there's also Daily Plate and others. They let you see exactly what is going in and out, and help you adjust. You want to aim to eat back your calories - if you only take in 1400 cals and then burn, say 500, you are running WAY too much of a deficit. You need to aim for a NET of 1400, which means take in whatever over that that you burn.

For example:
Breakfast - 400 cals
Snack - 100 cals
Lunch - 500 cals
Run at lunchtime - (250 cals)
Snack - 100 cals
Bike after work - (250 cals)
Dinner - 800 cals

Total in: 1900
Total out: 500
Total net: 1400

Also, logging will help you see protein, carb, and fat ratios, as well as a bunch of other really useful stuff.

Anyone up for a p90x throw down in the challenge forum? We'd have to make up some rules to go along with it, but I think it'd be fun!!

Who's in?

I'm game! I need a challenge that requires me to get my workouts in every day no matter what. Other than that I don't know what kind of rules you could have... maybe the second set of whatever workouts you're doing has to be equal to or better than your first? So if I do 20 push-ups on Chest & back the first time, then I'll have to do 20+ the next time, etc.

I will be more than happy to give a challenge a shot.  The rules could be interesting.  I do replace some of them with my runs or bike,  I have decided that the strength I will do for sure.

How about each p90x workout we do we get a point. You have to do the WHOLE workout to get the point. Person with the most points wins.

Or we set a goal and person that comes closest to the goal wins.

Hey Chris,  How are you?  I don't think he needs his own account.  I don't remember seeing Sherpa Accts.  You can always list him with yours.

Even though it is a P90X challenge,  How about if P90X workouts (complete) are 1 point and Tri workouts are worth 1/2 Pt.  That way if we replace yoga with a bike ride it counts for something..please, please.

Hey to you too! I'm doing just great. Have a Sprint in 2 weeks and my HIM at the end of Sept. So I've been just cranking along. Trying to get my P90X back under control.  LOL on the Sherpa Acct.  How are you doing out there in the very hot lands? I like the idea of getting 1 point for the P90X and 1/2 point for Tri stuff. Since most of us are in training/racing mode. Well off to bed,,,have an early morning

Since this is a results thing how about before and after pics?  Biggest change as voted on by everyone wins.

Otherwise I am a big fan of the point system...cause I want to play too!

My new DVDs come in just a few days! *Really* hoping they aren't a scam, 'cuz they were only $45 on eBay, and I'm seriously concerned. Anywho, now I actually have to dig my tv and dvd player out of storage and remember how the things work - it's been awhile (like, um, over two years, I think?)!

Loving the challenge thing, but I'll have to choose between than and another Sept challenge already brewing. Hmmm....

Quick question - do you need a pull-up bar, or are there alternatives? My landlords built their house, and it has some funky doorways/door jambs. I don't think one will fit, plus I don't have $50 to throw down on one.

Didn't think of that Wonderboy.....Pics would be cool,  but I agree Wonder that since some are new and some are 2 rounders they would be skewed.  We could still vote on most improved and have a winner it just wouldn't be part of the points challenge.

Slugger,

I bought a pull up bar from Wal-Mart for $11.  It does screw into the door jam but buy a $1 tube of caulk for when you move out to fix the holes.
