LaurenCO - 2009-07-15 2:36 PM At the last tri I was at (Tri the Creek), I saw one person use a little stool.  As for taking up room......if it fits right on the little transition towel...how can it take up more space?

the more in transition equals more space taken up, this is simple math.

why anyone needs anything more on the ground besides bike shoes and sneakers is beyond me.

Fixed

an ITU guy?

Not at all. An (A?) SOTB (shoes on the bike) guy.

No need for the "the" above.  Wasted words.  SOB (shoes on bike) is fine.  Cool

In that case, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool SOB.

I sat.  I'm not in that big a hurry plus if you fall over you might knock over a dozen bikes.

I don't sit down intentionally, but I have fallen over a couple of times when putting my shoes on.  I wish I was kidding!  I have serious balance issues.

I used to use a bucket and it didn't take up any more room than my transition bag does now.  A bright orange Home Depot bucket -- easy to spot.  I stopped using it because as soon as I sat down I forgot I was in a race.  If you're dizzy after the swim earplugs might help.  Yoga helps the balance, too.  So does practice.  In the meantime, use a bucket if you want.
