I am scheduled to do my second tri this weekend and weather.com shows thunderstorms and lots of rain.  I know tri's are rain or shine but what should I do with my transition area?  Are you supposed to cover everything with plastic? or just let it rain over everything?  Thoughts?

Leave the bike saddle covered....shoes too...though it often doesn't help.

Let a bit of air out of the tires if the roads are real wet, helps with the traction.

Don't bother with a jacket....

eta...my first tri was in the remnants of a hurricane.  on a hybrid.  it sucked but I still had fun

Tri's are cancelled all the time becuase of severe weather - don't expect it to go on "rain or shine." There was one in my area just last weekend where everyone arrived, was bodymarked, set up transitions, etc.... then the skies opened up and a crazy storm erupted. Race cancelled. No refunds or transfers. Everyone had to walk a mile back to their cars in the pouring rain and go home without racing.

I would put run and bike shoes (and socks if you use them) in a plastic grocery bag. But other than that, not much.
Oh and bring dry towels and dry clothes to change into after.
