Subject: 5k ScamYou may have seen a 5k run in Piedmont Park posted on Active.com or another site for July 25, in addition to other dates, and other cities, being hosted by Movfitness. After some investigating, it seems these runs/races are bogus. All the reviews of all the previous 5ks all say the same thing. They advertise the race, then cancel the night before via email. And of course, no refunds. Their phone number goes directly to a voicemail suggesting you email them instead, and give an invalid email address. The one or two events that have taken place are more like group runs. No timing, or organization whatsoever. Unfortunately, Active.com has still not removed them from their site, but there is an effort to get them to do so. Read the reviews posted under all their races listed on Active for more details on this scam. |
