Swim
  • 12h 47m
  • 820 yards
  • 1h 33m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started farther up this year and had n o worries about the traffic. Ran out half way and then stroke, stroke, stroke. Thought i was going well until I saw Rick (sasse23) mkig faces at me as he was walking along side me.
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Passed a couple guys on the beach run, suit came off the arms well
What would you do differently?:

not much
Bike
  • 38m 2s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 19.56 mile/hr
Comments:

Never felt fast and was expecting more help from the wind on the return leg. On the out bound almost was t-boned by an "older" driver at the corner of main and 4 mile when he blew past the cops stop signal.

Would have like to have some riders closer to gauge my pace (not draft), but in the end it was packs of 4-6 that were passing me
What would you do differently?:

only the second time on the bike this year, so I was pretty happy, goal was 20mph pace , fell short
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

ok-as clint, terri, and half the crowd will tell you I was a bit slow. need speed laces and not sit down. Had a monster calf cramp getting off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

half the time
Run
  • 25h 27m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 8h 12m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

My training up to the event made me thing sub 8's woudl be possible, in the end the lack of bike fitness killed my run. Patrick was a huge pace help as I would have slowed up with his push to run faster. In the end he had a kick I couldn't match. We had three donks through the chute in the end which was cool and I heard my name get annouced. Waved to Cole near the finish
What would you do differently?:

More biking
Post race
Warm down:

Had a professional picture with PJgrande(pam) and then grabbed some food and looked for friends finishing.

Went with Sasse23(rick) to the Friki Tiki for some drinks post race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training time was not there, but all things considered I beat 2008 results and have another child to cheer me on. The Donkey support was awesome, Clint, Terri,Dave, Fred-THANKS

Event comments:

Love the fact I can train on the actually race course-probably is finding the time. My goal was HIM not sprint. Came home with legit hardware and acepeted my plaque with beer in hand.

Congrats on the hardware pickup!!  You were a big help to me as well, the pre-course ride/run was really helpful.  Also, you helped me get through the run, I was able to ignore the pain in my foot and push through to the end so thank you!
