OK here's the recap.
I was injured for the past 3+ months, hinging on 4.
This is/was my first season and before it started i said i wanted 1 sprint, 1 oly, 1 HIM
Did the sprint with one month of training, then trained hard and did the MIT in March. Started training for the Half but also got the bright idea to sub run training with Mary training as i wanted to do that after the HIM.
Got injured due to overuse. Was following the plans to the T, regardless my body was not equipped yet for the 50 miles or so of running a week etc...
( week before injury i did my first 13.5 mile long run after 5 regular run sessions that week-i was stoked
)
two xrays and an MRI later and two doctors reading said MRI, both diagnosed as PT
(patellar Tendonitis
) in my knee.
Went to Physical Therapy
(still going
) Director of my PT is also a triathlete.
He has been helping with rehab etc and told me to order a PT strap and i can start jogging again
( i have been doing some biking 30-50 miles a week and swimming 5000M a week
)
He also said i should be ready to do my target race
(Miami Man 70.3
) on November 8. Since running is my strongest event he said i wont be my normal pace, but i could complete it as long as im not ramping up too quickly and using my strap.
Im conflicted as its 230 bucks and i want to be able to go hard and my knee is worrying me. I don't want to have to transfer.
still doing PT, do my first 2-3 mile jog tomorrow with my new running shoes and PT strap.
further complication- i have to go up north in two weeks for a mandated vacation and will not be able to do anything except run and swim
(at the beach
) and biking is my "worst" event. im slow as hell.
Im looking for some advice, sorry for being long-winded but i consider this a pretty important decision.
