I've often wondered if people don't change the pins on the garmin (per the instructions) and just leave the original watch strap pins in, which may not allow it to lock in as well.

Good point.  The original pins are smaller in diameter.

Silver = $44.99
White = $21.99

Am I seeing that correctly?

Edit: Nevermind, one is pack, one is bottle.

I assume the white is only a replacement bottle (not including the case/straps/etc).  I have this setup and so far it has been great!

I asked earlier what type of Garmin you have, but my post may have gotten lost in the discussion about the Bontrager bottle dealie.

If you have one of the new 310XTs, the quick release kit functions quite differently than the one for the 305.  I don't see how it would be possible for it to come loose unless the mount were actually broken and you didn't know it.

I have mine (a 310 type) mounted on my base bar just aft of the forward brake lever.  No issues.

Would the 35mm UCM work with the quick release kit or should I buy the 65mm UCM?

Thanks.

Agree, that is very cool.  I wish you could just buy an attachement for the profile design aero bottles since I just purchased one.

I too had my Garmin launch but in my case I hit the rumble strips that line the road so I am not surprised.

Here is my walk through on how I mounted the QR kit with aero bars.  I think the way the zip ties are setup almost acts as a shock absorber and does not even come close to feeling like it will launch on some pretty rough bumps etc.

I've had mine for a few weeks and mounted it to the stem.  In order to get the 305 to go flush into the mount I had to use my dremel tool and sand down where the cable ties go, but no problem in several longer rides!

~$45, check with your Trek/Bontrager dealer. My LBS had to order mine, took about three days.

Does your 305 fit around that tube very well?
