I'm sure ou will get right back into the swing of things. Especially with Leah trying to catch your 2010 numbers!! I had a great day today. I packed my lunch and logged my food. When hubby is gets home I'm going out on a run. I want to try to be strict all week and see how much it pays off. Other news for me. (1) I signed up for a Splash n Dash for Saturday - 500 m Swim and 5k. (2) I sent a check in to join the Phoenix tri club. I've looked over all the websites and this seems to be a pretty mixed group of people. I also joined b/c I emailed 3 groups about their programs and this is the only club who emailed me back. Hope everyone is having a great day. Good luck withe the food logging and packing your own lunch. I think that is the way to go. A couple years ago I emailed the Pasadena Triathlon Club and they never answered me, which is why I joined the LA Tri Club instead of Pasadena which is geographically more desirable). Good luck with your Splash n Dash. |

IdealMuse - 2010-04-27 10:09 AM Morning ladies and Scott - I think this marks 20 weeks until IMoo for me... a time when lots of people begin their official training program. Things are really going to start ramping up shortly, and soon we will see how nutso this girl really was. It was re-test/rest week for me last week for LT/HRzones. Just did the run one and managed to average a 9:55 pace (over 6.0mph!) I'm pretty floored by that! Last summer when I re-started for my Oly after taking too many months off a 5k took me 42 minutes. I could probably break under 30 now if I really pushed it. Pretty amazing. The second wetsuit I ordered appears to be out of stock... but they are going to see if they can get more. Maybe if I believed in fate that would be a sign that the LargeSH size was good enough, but I did tell the lady to let me know if they do get more. What's everyone got going on this week in terms of long rides/runs? Debb - I think that is marvelous about your 9:55 pace. I know how hard you have worked for that. And only twenty weeks until your IM. WOW. But you have been training steadily and with purpose. Not much more you can do than that. |

My endurance is SHOT! I can't even do a continuous 300 yard swim these days! I know endurance will come back but it's a shock to the system. Any time I have ever worked on my technique, whether it made me faster or not (mostly not), it seemed that I completely lost my endurance. I can't explain it. |

Judy - I've been working on pulling with more force too and it's downed my endurance as well. I think it just takes time to adjust (and gain strength) I was spent after our 1000yd Test last week. Expert 1773 San Gabriel Valley, California | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? I will say that I was more consistent about getting on the bike trainer when I had my coach. I got on the trainer tonight - on the old bike - and got in thirty minutes. Not much, but for my first time in a while, well..... Excuses, excuses, excuses. April Base-Building Month is almost over and serious training has to begin. I am starting the month with a half marathon on Sunday. I will be back on the trainer on Thursday and then plan to take the new bike out on Saturday afternoon for some easy practice riding, nothing strenuous because of the half marathon the next day and because I won't be comfortable on the new bike yet. Tomorrow is my usual 5.5 mile run to Crossfit and then Crossfit (and that's how I get those arms!). |

Expert 821 Golden, CO | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Hi Ladies - I can't believe all of the new bikes. Everyone is doing great with the training. I am going to have to weigh in early since I will be on a flight at 7 in the morning back to Wisconsin and out of contact for about a week. 232.0 as of today. Ended up winning our league and tournament for Volleyball tonight- so now I can add that to my 1979 awards. Of course I haven't packed yet but I think playing ball tonight was a good stress reliever. I am bringing my running shoes with me so I can get some miles in. My brother said he would do the Maple Grove Tri in August with me and he will also be in Wisconsin so we are actually going to run together. That will be a first. Have a great week. |

Expert 843 Gilbert | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Judi - My swim guy said the exact same thing to me. He said that my stroke was too slow and I have to speed up my motion. I need to practice I guess. Maybe if I visualize going faster it will just happen right?? |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Kate, Don't just visualize it....you have to do it. Sounds so easy to say that and I hated it when people would tell me to "just swim faster" but that's all there is to it. Start by increasing your kick speed....then try adding in the arm turnover faster. Then just play with those 2 things until you find a zone that you are working in but not struggling....Make that your cruise pace.....then eventually that has to become the slow cruise pace.... I am still working on making the faster pace my cruise pace and am finding it soooo hard to not blow up on it! |

Veteran 142 | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Hey guys I'm here and ready to catch up. I weighed in today at 181 but instead of being cranky I'm just going to start from here and try to be more consistent. The girls were sick last weekend and then I caught their cold and so did my husband. I had an awesome short 4 mile run on Sat. I was able to finish it in 40:32 and then I went for a 20 mile ride right after that. Sun I volunteered at a large local oly tri St. Anthony's and that went well but it was all day 4:30am to 1pm. Monday I got a good short 3 mile run in 31:54 so I was happy with that. I think I have finally figured out a training plan. It's a little hard because I've decided to have a very busy October which may end up being a bad idea. Oct 2nd is a half marathon through Disney at night Oct 17th is my first oly tri and then on the 29th-31st I doing the breast cancer 3 day walk. So for now I'm going to start the oly training plan a few weeks early in case I need to redo any weeks and then in a few months I will start the half mary training which should fit right in with the oly plans. Finally I will add a few very long walks in to be ready for the 60 miles in 3 days. Oh also my husband and I have decided to get swim lessons at our local YMCA so that should help improve my swim a lot. Ok that was a lot of random thoughts. Hopefully I will be feeling better in the next few days and I will have some awesome workouts to report. |

Expert 1773 San Gabriel Valley, California | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Several of us seem to be working extra on our swim. I read somewhere here on BT that if you want to get faster at running, run more. If you want to get faster at biking, then bike more. If you want to get faster at swimming, take lessons. I am now off to swim, practicing what I have learned and perhaps seeing some improvement. I am hoping to get home early enough tonight to practice riding my new bike outside. Otherwise it will be the trainer for me tonight. Happy training everyone. |

Master 1322 Chicago | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Good luck with Weight watchers Kate... I've used them in the past and had luck with it as long as I stuck with it. I'm not really swimming "more" only the 2-3 times week that's in my schedule, but I have been trying to focus on form and arm pull. I did my first 1-mi straight non-stop swim since last fall the other day just to see where I was at and I was down to about 44mins. Good Sign. Today is an optional swim for me but since I swam yesterday and will tomorrow morning I'm either going to skip it or do it on the weekend. Otherwise I just have an hour run and strength. New wetsuit is here and it is small as I knew it would be, but I could get it on an zip it up. I'm a little nervous about the restriction with sleeves, but won't know until I drop enough so it fits right. I'm hoping to test it out by early July. If I can't adapt to the sleeves I'll have to get another sleeveless in a smaller size then my current one. |

Expert 843 Gilbert | Subject: RE: Have I lost my mind to consider a HIM? Well, I did it. I reluctantly got back into the pool. As you all know, I have been avoiding it for some time now. Leah's speech about "if you are bad at something do it more" got to me. I know what I need to do. I need to make friends with Swimming. Also, tomorrow is our final weigh in!! SHOW ME YOUR NUMBERS!! |

Mile total for 2010 is 1,152.67 but I still have a short bike to do this afternoon so I'll update that again later today. Kate congrats on Jumpin' back into the water. I know it's not easy to get in there, but you'll be thanking yourself later. |
