Had my first clipless pedal wipe out today. But it was in my driveway on my way to work, so only my pride was hurt!! But I discovered something truly gross about biking.  It's been pouring rain, and there are worms everywhere. And by everywhere I mean stuck in my gears, wrapped around my frame, flung in chunks up my back.  I haven't been on a bike in about 15 years, but I don't remember doing that much damage to the worm population back then

gross! not fun to clean off. it reminds me of a training ride i did in rural michigan a couple of years ago the morning after an all night thunder storm. it was a 100 mile training ride by myself and there were long stretches of road where frogs had decided to cross during the storm. made for a fairly gruesome slalom course at times and i thought that i had missed them all. i got back to my mom's house (i was visiting for the weekend) and went about my long weekend. when i got home to chicago i found that there was a desiccated frog leg stuck to my rear brake caliper!

No wonder the price of worms has been going up. Next thing you know, it'll be cheaper to eat steak or chicken. What is the world coming to when a guy can't have a worm with his breakfast any more?

I ran over a snake the other day. I ride on a paved bike trail, and see a snake once a week or so. The last time I was out I saw a nasty orange snake. I don't know what it was. Worms and frogs would gross me out more than snakes. I don't think a bike is heavy enough to spill snake guts all over!

I too know worms. Boy those worm guts are nasty sticky stuff. I almost ran over an echidna once, which would've been far worse. Then there was the time I almost hit a deer. I think she would've come out ahead in that collision!
