Subject: RE: Train for Tri or MarathonI am also doing both. On my calendar for the rest of the season are the Chicago Triathlon, Chicago 1/2 Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon. My training for tri hasn't changed. I still bike 3 times a week, swim 3 times, and run 4. It's just that one of the 4 runs is SIGNIFICANTLY longer than it used to be. Running is my weakest of the three sports. But training for marathon is making me much faster. I now think of the 5k in a sprint triathlon as truly being a "sprint", since my normal marathon training run is at least 6 miles. No reason you can't do both. You just have to want it bad enough. |
