I noticed that at most races in which I have participated, there are several folks from my Virginia Tech. I realize I am only noticing these folks, but it feels good to see my folks out there experiencing the triathlon life style.

I am an east coaster, but it still is nice to see Va Tech folks at most of the races I have been at.

We are Virginia Tech

I've seen quite a few flying Tech colors in the gym and on vehicles here in GA. I do my first Tri (sprint) in two weeks. I'll have to look for the maroon and orange. It's been a long time since I last ran around the drill field.

I'll have to send a shout your way and say Roll Tide!!!

I'm working toward my first tri, but will keep an eye out for any Hokies around when the moment arrives.  Of course, that will be after the game....

I know the Tide nation is looking forward to the game.  I know it will be fun in Atlanta.

Woohoo!  I love the Hokie spirit.  I am a former Hokie and still living in the 'burg.  Came for college and never left.  I will have to sport VT colors when I do my next race.

Do you know if you have to be a current student to be in the VT tri club?  I looked at their site last week but couldn't tell if you have to be a student or not.  I'm a former student...by about five years.

A Hokie thread on BT - awesome!

Spent the best seven years of my life in Blacksburg.  Still miss it!

Go Hokies!

Thanks, I contacted them.  I can't represent them in races due to liability issues but I can train with them and I imagine I could probably enter races representing myself.  Looks pretty sweet, thanks for mentioning it!

I'm in Roanoke too!  Not a Hokie though (William and Mary grad), but my boyfriend is.  We'll be doing our first Tri (Take Flight in Charlotte, NC) in October, and I'm sure he'll be wearing his Tech hat!

Does it count if we are a Convert. I became a hokie fan when I moved down here (Staunton)?

Whoa, a Hokie thread AND two from Roanoke! Sweet! Hollins grad here - spent plenty of time with Hokies.

Now, just to make sure you are REAL Hokies - what, precisely, is a Hokie?

PS: It isn't a turkey...

I saw several of the VT tri club at my first event I raced in this summer.  They had cool matching tri suits, and looked like students to me.

class of 2000 here, and a hokie isn't anything.

I'm AMAZED at how many Va Tech people I see at our races...or anywhere for that matter! I live in NJ...in a small one square mile town with maybe 5,000 people in it...so you wouldn't expect it to be a hotbed of Va Tech people but I know of at least a dozen Hokies (these are just the ones I know of).

You know how I know? They ALL have something Va Tech on their car, shirt, house, whatever. It's pretty cool. I don't know if there are more Tech people around here than other schools but they certainly display those colors (which are kind of ugly...sorry). Actually I think the colors are SO ugly that for some strange reason they work BETTER because of it.

Living down here in Eastern NC, I have seen Hokies at every race I've been too. Now I realize being an alumni that I'm partial to the Hokie colors, but the VT and muscled up hokie bird seem to be on alot of bikes, cars, and jerseys.

Blacksburg was a great place to ride and I really enjoyed my time at VT. Graduated in Aero and Ocean Engineering in 87.

We are VT

Nice! It's amazing the number of Tech grads who don't know this...

Hollins 2001 grad - did I see you around?
