Hey all you marathon training peeps out there...what is on the agenda for Saturday morning??? I would like to get a ride in and am debating on whether or not I should go out to the burbs, or do it on the lakefront?? But there are so many groups on there, that sometimes, I just wish I'd stayed home...so just trying to get a feel!!

Thanks!

Go early. Most don't start until after 7 or 8. If you're out there by 6, there are few to bother you. If you have the means, I would recommend going to the 'burbs.

I wouldn't even attempt to ride in Chicago.  For marathon training we are doing anywhere from 16 - 19 miles depending a persons level.  In addition there is a 12:05 Cubs game and the Air and Water show starts at 10am.  Unless you can go way south and avoid coming back around North Ave I would avoid riding on the path.

ETA: My group of over 200 runners starts at Montrose at 6:00am.  A second group of 350 or so runners starts at Montrose at 6:30am.  We head south before turning around and finishing back at Montrose.  I do scream at the people in the group to run 2x2 and stay in the gravel portion as much as possible. I know how pissed I would get on the path at the runners when I used to ride it.

Good old CARA. They are broken up into smaller pace groups from 7min/miles to 12min/miles.  They do spread out, but it is still a heard.
