Subject: RE: The Fantastic Nantasket Beach Triathlon : Official ThreadHi Everyone and Congratulations! I was surprised and a bit disappointed that the sand wasn't as hard packed as I believed it would have been. Since I was the 6th wave and running is the slowest of the 3 disciplines, truth be told, it's more like slow, slower and slowest, the sand was soft by the time I cam along and hundreds of people had already trampled upon it. It's my fault, however, as I should have practiced in the sand.
Then I finally finish and I don't have a race time, egad! The chip people had to review a paper tape and gratefully they were able to find me. I finished in 1:31:18 not bad for an old chubby lady, eh?!
My 45th birthday will be on October 16th and I will be happy to attend my celebratory party with the knowledge that this time last year I was 70 pounds heavier and that in spite of still being 50 pounds overweight, since May of this year, I have completed 6 sprint tri's, 3 5k's and 1 10k, hopefully it's on October 12th. How cool is that?!
Once again to all the triathletes Congratulations and I wish you the best in all your future endeavors, Kudos and Accolades to all of you. |
